# About me

My name is Mike Brady, but my most common screen name is ALOTEF.
I design ships, aircraft and vehicles on Microsoft Paint, mostly historically accurate and in scale. The majority of my aircraft are in 1/72 scale.

Recently I finished a large-scale model of the RMS Titanic in about 1/320th scale. It can be found here:

REQUESTS:
I will respond to logical requests. Should you want a particular aircraft or ship, send me some basic info such as time period, photo or wikipedia entry etc. and I will make it for you.

I hope you enjoy my art space! Please leave a comment or critique if you enjoy it.

Idea for another 'what-if' Olympic-class.

If Britannic had not met that mine in November 1916, she - like Mauretania and Aquitania - probably would've been converted to a troopship in 1917. Picture a dazzle-painted Britannic!

Sorry...I know that's a shameless attempt to add to your workload of beyond-awesome masterpieces, but you have to admit it's a definite idea!

well since your titanic profile is showing the starboard side, I noticed that the hull scrape below the anchor was missing so i thought I needed to remind you of that.

I just thought of another AU Olympic-class drawing you could do! If Britannic had missed the mine in 1916 (or struck it and survived), she probably would've gone on to serve as a troop transport. Britannic in dazzle as a troop transport in 1917...thoughts?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alotef In reply to ijnfleetadmiral [2013-07-27 15:16:21 +0000 UTC]

Interesting thought, though why do you think she would have been converted to a troopship? That would mean removing all of her medical fittings which, to my mind, would be quite an extensive job. I'm sure she would have served the rest of the war as a hospital ship

Though what if Olympic and Britannic's roles were reversed at the beginning... and it was Olympic that struck a mine as a hospital ship and Britannic that would go on to ram a U Boat and earn the moniker 'Old Reliable'! Endless possibilities! haha

ijnfleetadmiral In reply to alotef [2013-07-27 15:33:44 +0000 UTC]

Well both Mauretania and Aquitania were serving as hospital ships at the same time as Britannic, then once the Dardanelles Campaign was concluded, both were converted into troopships, a role they served in for the rest of the war. Is it not logical that Britannic's war service recordΒ - had she survived - would have followed the same path?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alotef In reply to ijnfleetadmiral [2013-07-28 04:00:33 +0000 UTC]

Fair point! Looks like Mauretania started the war as a troopship and was converted to a hospital ship and back before the war's end. I didn't know that!

Random question: On your upcomingΒ RMS Britannic drawing, are you coloring the gantry davits buff or white?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alotef In reply to ijnfleetadmiral [2013-07-30 01:45:24 +0000 UTC]

I think white, considering White Star's other liners had white Wellin davits.

I gotta ask, how long did it take for you to do one of the Olympic-class drawings, from start to finish?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alotef In reply to ijnfleetadmiral [2013-07-21 03:25:58 +0000 UTC]

Titanic took me 6 months; 3 months of research and 3 of drawing. Olympic took a month of research and a couple of weeks of drawing. Britannic, a year of research and 3 months of drawing. Everything after that was just a 'repaint' and therefore easy to complete within a short time-frame. I've been drawing and researching Bismarck for about a year now.

The modelling room is a bit upside down atm, what with re-surfacing and sanding of the top track area on my railway, so she'll be done not long after it's all sorted. Hoping to get down to Duxford with the model when it's finished
