I have an old school stair well tower that is open on one side with a ledge that sits about 40 feet off the ground. you can see it in this image. [link]
So it puts me up above most of the trees. and almost a clear 160 veiw. Problem is most of the storms this time of year come from right behind a big oak tree that i would cut down if it was on my property lol.

That is so cool and its a shame about the tree. I was going to suggest climbing into the tree but then realised the flaw in that plan... God am i clever at this time of the hour...
You are so lucky to have a tower like that from where you have an amazing view.
