I'll add you to my friends list at the NaNo site. My last NaNo is a hopeless mess and I stopped working on it. I have more hope for this year as my hope is to get it published.

Yeah, my username on FW is no reason my username on NaNo is Avric. I think my nano last year is salvageable with a lot of work but I had a blast doing it and even though I did make 50K I didn't completely finish, missing some of the last scenes, I wrote the last three but I need a few in between them, this year I am going to write at least 50K in november and if that is not enough I am going to do NaNoFiMo, natinal novel finishing month, which is (if you aren't finished) 30K extra words during december and I will start editing it in january. Really looking foreword to it, 58 more days

How do you go about outlining your novel, I want to do one and so far I have just been breaking it down into scenes so I always knows what comes next and it is easier to create the needed tension.

Sorry. Didn't see this until now since I've been busy at work and getting ready for NaNo. Well, I found that figuring out the main idea (one sentence), then expanding that into a few paragraphs helps. Then I break those paragraphs down into individual sections and figure out how I get from one section to the next. Those are my scenes. I can then break it down further with more detail.
I just went through an outlining workshop at FMWriters and the instructor used this process but had us work with fairytales. Worked pretty well and I'll be using that outline too (you'd never recognize the original tale in it though!).

Thanks. Next week will be really busy at my job as two of my shift leads are on vacation. So, I have to work 7 days in a row. On top of that the weather is awful! I've had to ride the bus for the last three days as my car isn't moving in the apartment complex. Today we got another 8+ inches of snow on top of the 5 that we already had...Yuck!
