Hi everybody,
My name is Melissa and I'm excited to be here on deviantART. What a wonderful place to display our artwork and handmade items. I credit my creative side to my mother, who is an amazing painter and seamstress. I started designing jewelry because I love to create and really get excited about putting colors, textures, and different elements into a new design. I make some of my own beads and metal findings. I love wire-working and putting my energy into hammered metal. I have been designing for 3 years now and am constantly researching and learning more wonderful techniques to employ in my jewelry. Soon I may be able to include some personalized stamped jewelry pieces. I have been working with more copper lately. I really love the vintage, yet classy look of this metal. I love working with quality beads and findings. It gives me great joy when someone tries on one of my pieces and it makes them feel special, or simply gives them a little "pick-me-up". I am commited to quality, original designs, and customer service. Just let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

I am starting this site in hopes to continue staying home with my children and being available for them. I am a former teacher and homeschooled my youngest daughter until she was in fifth grade. As the econonmy continues to slip, and my husband's pay has been cut, I have looked into going back into my field full-time. As doors were opened up, then quickly shut, God kept bringing a certain passage to mind. Especially on those nights where I lay awake worrying about the uncertainty of my husband's job, a job that has allowed me to be an involved mother all these years. That passage is found in Poverbs 31, where the woman used the resources and talents God had given her to help her family financially. It was like God was saying "look it up". I didn't look it up right away. I tried to put it out of my mind while I searched for a more "typical" job. It did worry me that my children would only have a part-time mother. I'm just like a lot of you other moms, trying to juggle time with my wonderful family, make a dent in the mounting dishes and laundry, and help provide some income for the grocery shopping and supplies ("what do you mean your jeans are too short? Give them a couple more months and wah la . . . instant capris"). Well, my way wasn't working, so I finally revisited that passage. You know how it is, after we try everything we can on our own, we finally admit to God we're clueless and out of options. What an amazing passage. I decided, if that woman wasn't afraid or ashamed, then I could get busy doing the same thing. So craft fairs and farmers market . . . here I come. I still keep checking in with God constantly. "Are you sure God, you know I stink at sales, is this what you really want for me?"

I feel I am supposed to move forward with this, so keep me in your prayers as I try to get photos up. I have resisted for so long because I have a love-hate relationship with my computer, but here God and I go. I couldn't do any of this without His help, as I am a coward at heart.
