I have the same problem as you. I can't draw cartoons/anime exactly the same as the original ones unlike most artists. Well unless I try a bit harder but then that just ends up frustrating me for spending so much time on something I could've done faster in the way I usually draw.

that said, you really shouldn't force yourself to copy the original style. you should just draw things the way you like to draw, adding your own style to the character. Iyon naman talaga ang purpose ng art di ba? self-expression. besides, fan-art is fan-art. you're a fan and it's your homeage to the character/artist to show your love for them. that in itself is cool. naks.
