most of the people in my ballet class are 16 or 17 and beginners...i'm very lucky though to have an excellant teacher



it depends completely upon the student and how much work they put in(and the teacher also)

there was a list of things you should be able to do (hold a passe, do 16 releves in center floor)

your teacher would probably be the best judge of how soon you can start pointe work ....if you want to start sooner, i would suggest taking at least 2-3 classes a week if possible and working as much as you can


i gotta warn you though, pointe hurts like heck when you first start...there were times when i first started, that when i took my shoes off i had to hold in a scream (granted i started too early)

It's never really too late to start ballet if you have a good teacher..i say go for it

thanks...i just wanted to know someone opinion who is actually taking ballet...i am fully aware of how much pointe will hurt...i dont care how much it hurts i will put up with it

just be careful, everyone has stories of stupid stuff they did with their first pair of pointe shoes...i learned not to superglue the tips of mine

well with all the tips from people on what NOT to do, i have a good idea of what to avoid doing to not hurt myself
