MY BASES ARE NOT INTENDED TO BE A DRAWING REFERENCE OF ANY KIND!
Their anatomy in most cases is at least flawed. If you need help in learning how to improve your anatomy skills, I'd suggest looking for free stock photos and other resources at places like dAPoses , Pose-Emporium , Reference-Library , AdorkaStock and many more :).

PS. If you ever see something made with my base or prop that I might have missed, let me know! ^^

How do you color your bases? I mean, I know you color them with MS Paint, but how do you shade them?

For older bases I was using simple cell shading (no dithering or anti-aliasing). For recent bases (if there was any shading at all) I've been using pixel shading, often with heavy dithering (kinda like this , but I usually make those pixel by pixel).

Do you have any suggestions on finding a base? I have this doll I'm working on but since I modified some of the features and skin tone, I can't get google to reverse image search it correct. And I can't find the base in my favorites at all. I'd hate to post it up without crediting the owner. There's a signature on it but I can only make out an 'S' and an 'M'

Maybe there is a chance that it was posted on Pixistar.com ? The search engine there allows you to narrow it down to several base attributes, like size or style :) (Smile) . Or maybe you could upload it to your sta.sh and send me a link? I might recognize it and if not, you could try asking at the Digital Dolls Chat . If everything else fails, you can probably submit it with a note that you couldn't find the basemaker and maybe someone will give you a hint .

well, this really looks like references. I thought this is kind of reference to help people in their artworks, until i read those words

and i think you know it that people would consider this as their references in drawings. And what happen if you find a drawing which the pose is the same as one of your base?

But i dont know... this is just my opinion, and yeah it shocks me. Still, all the rights belong to you. Sorry if i talk too much.

Well, many people don't know what doll bases are, that's why I wrote clearly that it's not supposed to be a drawing reference. But if I find a drawing with the same pose as my base then it's nothing really Shrug Shrug Shrug Shrug Shrug Shrug Shrug . You can't copyright a pose anyway and I don't even ban people from using my bases as reference - I just try to direct them to more reliable sources, like stock photos or proper anatomy guides. Learning from an amateur like me can only hinder their improvement and that's what I try to warn everybody about :) (Smile) .
