honestly, i just started doing photography like 2 weeks ago believe it or not. so i don't know all the settings. but all i did for the light painting was set my camera to [s] for shutter speed control, and it will auto adjust the aperture for you. then i set the shutter speed to [8"] aka 8 seconds. that's it

oh, we started around the same time then
I'm mostly on manual mode, although im not 100% sure what every single option does. It gives more flexibility on changing the light it receives.

haha, well there you go. i didn't realize it posted the settings, that's cool. i learned everything i know from videos on youtube lol. one person in particular, "photo extremist" he has vids on the basics you need to know and tutorials on cool techniques, very helpful stuff.

oh cool! Same here I learned everything from youtube too! Even before i buy my camera, i watch reviews from "DigitalRevCom" and some other unboxing. Ima go check out the photo extremist!

yeah, 2 weeks haha. i've been an artist my whole life tho, so i think that helps. but yeah, those light shots are pretty simple. just set your camera to [S] for shutter speed control. then set it to an 8 second shot. make sure you're in the dark btw. take the photo, and shine a flashlight on your face, then shine the flashlight directly at the camera in whatever shapes you want to appear. and that's it
