Actually, there are four different programs running at the top.
From left to right:

EzPop - Among other things, it can check one or several e-mail accounts automatically and tells you if you have new messages.

BeatNik Internet Clock - It shows date and time. It has a list of servers which it can connect to and synchronize your pc-time.

Winamp - I'm sure you know what this is.

SysMeter - It's a program which can give you some information about your computer.

I've simply made the skins for the first two and the last one to look similar, that's why they together look like a taskbar.

A Summary of Events up to and Including The Kiss
Nick Rountree


Pull up in a bus
Anticipation beaded on the skin like sweat
Only, less gross
Grab a bag that feels lighter than it should be
Momentary panic, then reassurance in the form of a
Phrase to be repeated: "Oh well, deal with it"
Up a path of cracked cement being encroached
Upon by green creeping tendrils trying to execute a hostile takeover
Crush a tendril for good measure, Man is better, we have a bigger dick than you
Stupid plant.

Inside, mingling with a horde of faces, all friendly and smiling
Comfortable, finally
Eyes searching for her, the anticipation building to a breaking point
Almost frantic, a missing face in a group of friends never caused so much distress
As now, blood races in veins, causing all sorts of unwanted side effects
Strained voice, slightly caged appearance, and a nasty tendency to blank out of conversations
As eyes make yet another desperate sweep around a room, like some burnt out lighthouse,
The fire dimmed, but the casing still rotating, seeing nothing and only acting as a
Dangerous obstacle to ships passing in the night.
Damn it.

Sitting in a circle, surrounded by less faces, but still just as friendly.
Panic temporarily forgotten, in the face of overwhelming kindness.
A noise to my left, slight disturbance, annoying in the midst of a circle of amiability.
Turn, to inspect said distraction, and forget everything.
With bag under arm, she stands, waiting and speaking to someone.
Memories flood instantly, voice, smell, touch, all assault me immediately, and I realize,
She hasn’t changed, and if she has, for the better only.
No Words.

She plays, though no one but me listens. She strums chords that are familiar yet new.
I’ve heard this in my ear almost everyday for the past three months, and still,
I cannot stop from total infatuation with the folk song goddess in front of me.
My own damn fault anyway,
Always have to find the really great people and become friends with them,
Damn me, a smile creeps across my face and I look into her eyes, pools that I could
Slowly drown in without complaining, and yet, I can’t keep eye contact.
I falter, for the first time in a long while, and feel,
Can this be? Embarrassment, Infatuation, dare I say it? Have I
Fallen In Like?
Unabashedly Yes.

We’re experiencing the thrill of sneaking out without the danger of being caught,
God bless Jeff, a pillar among men, and a boar among police
We walk, in silence, under the clear rays of a cold, crisp, moon.
Conversation is followed by laughter, and with laughter comes the favorite of
Young boys enraptured, the moment when the female in your life, moves a little closer to you,
Fits in just right, right in the little spot between your... place, and the other place.
Comfort, again. A slight warmth against the chill, a stolen chaste kiss among the apples,
A slight detachment from a larger group, silently, without consultation, a solitary path is
Chosen, to be traveled as we sit fit, when the mood strikes us. Free, among the orchard,
Frozen grass sparkles and crunches beneath our feet. From down the hill,
Voices of the other group, those accompanied by an adult. A fleeting moment of eye contact.
A resolution, to run. And we’re away, up a hill, grass flowing smoothly like a frozen green waterfall,
Moonlight reflecting in the shine of her hair, a stride in front of me. We stop, move to the side out of view, and we’re facing each other, under a gnarled guardian of a tree.
We Kiss, And it can only be described as
Exhilarating and
Thrilling.
