I was only recently introduced to your work(through Elfwood) and I'm already hooked on most all of it. You inspired me to get back into drawing, which was something I wasn't really good at because I never practiced. I look forward to seeing whatever new work you are currently working on.

Thank ya, and I did visit your place just the other day. I am amazed that you set me as your favorite artist, that is quite an honor and one I donβt think I have earned yet. What can I say I still think I am not quite good enough yet.
And sorry for the late reply, just this Saturday was my 14th day straight working at my job and that day I had to work from 7:30am till 10:30pm straight. I am just not stating to feel ok and recover from the exhaustion.
On the bright side soon I might be getting a new scanner so I can update once again.
Also when you said you arenβt really all that good because you donβt practice. Just draw, that is what I did. Take a look at the sword in my elfwood gallery taichi and then take a look at Demonsdread in this one and you can see how much I have improved just by drawing.
God knows I still get comments from my elfwood gallery that say, you suck, what is this I canβt tell because you canβt draw. I just try to ignore them and keep at it, all you can do actually.

I'll remember that, and I will keep practicing. I look forward to seeing what new stuff you'll put up once you get your new scanner. And, yes, I do think your work is good enough for me to favorite you. I haven't seen anyone(yet) who specializes in fantasy weoponry with quality anything like yours. I copied and pasted all your work(from both galleries) so I could study it indepthly. I'm not going to steal or mimic your work, I'm just going to mimic your creativeness and style, if that makes any sense to you...

Well you are quite welcome, but I must say this, thank you for the comics you do. God I was laughing hard last night while reading the one I faved and then browsing through the rest of your gallery. In my journal entry above I said when my secret is to being happy all the time. It is because of people like you, so thank you for that.

Sorry for the late reply here, been busy the last couple of days.
You are quite welcome, and I will be honest here I canβt wait for more from you. the one that got me to laugh a lot was the lizard one. After I stopped spewing tea out of my nose I couldnβt help but sympathize with ya there.
But yes keep drawing and keep people laughing, that is the one treasure in the world.

I was told to come see your gallery, and I can't do anything but watch you. Your designs absolutely rock, and I would love to make some of them.

Coming from you that is a huge as heck compliment to me. I have been by your gallery a few times and my jaw keeps falling open. I am just amazed at your skill with metal crafting, truly amazed. Feel free to make any of the designs you want to from my pages, and trust me I canβt wait to see the finished product.

I have to admire you for your own skill and knowledge. I am currently trying to show a young fellow that blades still need to be functional, as well as fancy, but he keeps drawing spikes and wierd shapes that would never work in combat, and he just can't seem to grasp the concept that they show how nieve and unknowledgable he is. Your blades are both intricate AND functional, and I only assume that you have either studied some sword play, or you have a particulaly intelligent brain to tell you what would and wouldn't work. Your hilts are awesome, and far beyond the meager results of my own ability. All in all, your designs are amazing, and that is the first (and most important) step in making something.
π: 0 β©: 1
bitterashes In reply to BLOODSTORME [2007-03-01 02:42:01 +0000 UTC]
(shrugs) I donβt know where I get the designs from honestly. I have never studied sword play before and the only knowledge I have about swords comes from my study of the history of warfare and ancient battles and studying those weapons.
In truth I just sit down and start to listen to music with the paper before me and the image just seems to come to life on the paper. One line leads to the next and before you know it there is a finished design sitting there with a lengthy back story behind it. Where it comes from is beyond my feeble grasp of logic.
The only thing I can say for sure is I try and make the designs aspects flow into one another. The hilt flows into the blade and then the pommel and end cap.
And thanks for the compliment, though I am curious just wich ones might have caught your eye design wise so far?
Josh

If you have studdied warefare and weaponry, that would explain why your blades remain functional, despite their spectacular designs. You have a wonderful imagination and I wish I had your imagination when I was your age. Whay wonders I would creat now if I had. I feel that you are vastly beyond me in design ability, and it would be an honour to craft your pieces.
The first piece that caught my eye when I saw your page was Forger of Nightmares, and I knew then that you had amazing talent. I just had to see the rest of your gallery, and I think that Blood Lotus, Demon's Dread and Elros would be pieces that I like the most, and would want to make.

bitterashes In reply to BLOODSTORME [2007-03-04 23:04:52 +0000 UTC]
You know I have always wanted to try and get some of the designs made but just never knew how to go about it. Some I look at and just wonder what they would be like to hold. Elros and demonsdread and definitely two I would like to see made, that is for sure. Hopefully this coming Sunday I will be able to get a new design up here.
Forger has been my favorite one though, for two reasons. The design and the back story. Just something about a hero having to sacrifice his soul for those he cares about, that was just an interesting story for me.
Anyways good luck on the designs and if you need me to make more detailed sketches up just let me know.
Josh

Forger was the one I saw first, and when I did I immediately knew your gallery would be sensational.
I think I would make this one first because I haven't done many axes, but especially not one so awesome. I think I may just have to make it instead of some I have already planned.

bitterashes In reply to BLOODSTORME [2007-03-19 02:20:27 +0000 UTC]
It is weird how that design got started. I just sat down and started to sketch out the part where the haft meets the blade and from there the sketch just flowed out to the spikes, curving blade and everything. After finishing it I loved the design but saw only one flaw it in that main spike and its angle. But overall I was pleased with it and as I looked at it the story of the city in flames, demons ravaging it and a lone warrior fighting on the roof tops trying to save what he held dear. Just the darkness of the blade and the story sat well with me and the cost of salvation of the city.
I canβt wait to see it done up. After looking through all of your designs on here I will it will be a very good job.

Hey again Josh. It's really cool to hear the background of the design. I'm not sure when I could start it, but I do think it will be a piece that definately needs making.

Yep, I donβt mind at all. As I have said to many others my artwork here is for others to enjoy in whichever way they want to. If they want to use it for some of their stuff I have no qualms about it as long as they credit me with it. So have fun.

Thanks.
Yeah there are few weapons designers here on DA, at least people who just draw that. I am good at weapons and suck at people, so I stay with my strong suit right now. Hopefully tonight I might be able to finish up some more drawings and get them posted, it all depends how my energy level holds out with being sick and all.

Your gallery is just so beautiful!
Dang, lovely daggers too
I know I said this before, but do you know how hard it might be to make a sword following some of your concepts?
π: 0 β©: 1
bitterashes In reply to sungjun [2006-10-13 02:13:00 +0000 UTC]
Some designs not at all hard to make into real work. Others impossibly complex and probably couldnβt be made. When I look at Kit Rae and his designs and how complex they are and then look at a bunch of mine I know they can be made.

Thanks for the comment on the Blender shield. Yeah I am working on them all right now, I got these two shields done first and as soon as I am back from doing my physical training I will get two or three more done before I start my run. Next I will be working on the angelic lament dagger, the Kings Cross sword, and an axe. If I feel up to it after my run I will try and finish up the rest, if not I got tomorrow to work on them before and after college.

Very nice weapons. I liek how you can draw bulky "power" weapons, or delicate "technique" weapons. Very nice work.

bitterashes In reply to Marcial-Alejandro [2006-08-16 21:01:58 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, I try and make them look balanced for the type of weapon they are, from heavy to very light and in between. As I said a while ago I try and put character into the weapons I design, weather I succeed or not is another matter, but I do try and make them as unique as possible.
