as beautiful as my photos. hmm. interesting. yes, i photograph the most beautiful people in the world. some are beautiful inside. i can tell instantly who is who.

i know this sounds trite but i consider inner beauty much more important in my own life. i consider moments beautiful. in fact, there is beauty everwhere you just have to know "how" to look for it. like inside yourself first.

from what i can see you are applying the texture through the lighting filter, another way to texture things up is to put the texture on a layer above the photo, and set it's layer blend to something like overlay or soft light (play around with them all to get a feel for them). to bring out the shadows in a texture, i find that duplicating it, then desaturating it (Ctrl+Alt+U) then amping up the contrast (Image>adjust> brightness-contrast) and setting it to multiply works a treat (if it's too dark, lower the opacity).

it's filling your whole image because you aren't applying it to the layer mask.
duplicate the photo layer, then on the second one click on the mask button at the bottom of the layer toolbox (it's the black square with a white circle). The second photo layer should now have two thumbnails on it, the first (that was always there) and a second one that is probably all white. click on the white one, and then use the clouds filter...
