yeah the hurricane knocked out our power since about noon yesterday and it probably won't get fixed for another whole day, so i'm sitting at the YMCA charging my phone and my laptop. The YMCA apparently blocks facebook but deviantart for some reason.

Hi Laura I had the same problem. I did not get power back until last Friday (Sept 3) and no home internet until this Weds.
That is funny about the site blocks but I have noticed the same thing at airports and other public places. No idea why.

yeah it was weird, deviantart no problem, facebook not at all.

oh my god you can find disturbing stuff on deviantart if you look, type something in that you think for sure would never have fanart about it and you Will find it! tons of it! facebook however is good for spying on people you secretly hate so that can be incredibly disturbing as well. there's inappropriate material on both so my theory is that no one at the Y had heard of DA.

I have a book picked out for you but since you will be home I will send to your parent's house. Re. sushi suggest choosing a place with hot food so your family has something to eat - then they may go with you. I think Libby will cry no matter what since it is your B-day!

Libby got a bowl of clam chowder and a big salad and dad, jimmy and I got the bento box and it was delicious! I wish i could eat sushi everyday of my life!

I love bento boxes too, always my fave to order.
When I was in Japan I literally had some kind of Sushi every day for a month. I never tired of it. However the Japanese have many other types of food too, and interestingly they are all served in specialty restaurants that serve little or nothing else. For example sushi restaurants never serve hot food, each type of noodle (Soba, Udon, etc) has its own restaurant - even pasta! My first day there my hosts took me to a pasta restaurant so I could let them know how 'authentic' it was! Octopus shacks only serve octopus, Fugu only serves Fugu, Kani only Kani (crab), etc. Fortunately its easy to tell too based on the signs or models up front (see my Japan photos here).
