Like yourself, I am a MASSIVE fan of Inglourious Basterds. And while I love all of the characters, words cannot express the brilliance of Colonel Hans Landa. Ever since seeing IB, Christoph Waltz has been my favorite actor. I mean, talk about being UNBELIEVABLY talented, incredible, and gorgeous.

So my question is- Are you going to see Water for Elephants in theatres, to support Waltzy?

"Are you going to see Water for Elephants in theatres, to support Waltzy?"
- Well, this is the first I'm hearing of it... but I am now! That is, if it's gonna come to my theater. One thing's for sure, I'll definitely try to get to see that new Threee Musketeers movie

I was watching Top Gear. They were racing to Oslo. James May and Richard Hammond got lost in a non-English speaking small town and were scaring the locals by overly miming the question "Where is the bus station?" I thought of you.

Still adjusting my sleep schedule for my morning classes. Today I failed to do so... I finally got to sleep at 6am only to get up 15 minutes later for my 7am math class. lul

Huh, I didn't think there were anyone left in this country who don't speak English... what with us being so Americanized, I mean. Must've been a pretty small small town! LOL, "where is the bus station" isn't even a phrase that's very hard to interpret - EVEN IF you can't speak English to save your life. <3 Top Gear <3

Oh honey... been turning your sleep schedule upside-down, huh?

Primarily non-city/urban areas don't speak the English, according to several SoN members. Well, James and Richard were miming it weird. Richard was doing a sort of touchdown wave and James was hopping up and down while pretending to steer all while yelling "Bus station!" The lady just pointed somewhere and kind of ran off.

Oh hells yeah. B:

Pssssch! I call bullarkey. I lived in a tiny little hick place for a year, I should know I mean, most of the old people prolly don't speak any English, but the young people certainly do (as there's nothing to do there other than to watch American TV shows and have tractor races)! In any case, the locals on that segment were just being antisocial dipshit as always.

....speaking of American TV; I've just plowed through the 1st season of Boardwalk - and HOHSHIT, is that show rife with slash possibilities! But then, I say that about everything. *shrug*

It's about a US Marshall who grew up in a small town in Kentucky and got out of there as soon as he could. Then during an assignment in Miami, he shot at notorious arms dealer. His bosses were pissed and made him transfer to Kentucky. Eventually, he meets up with old acquaintances, makes new friends/enemies, etc. and stuff happens. Watch this: [link]

Nice ^^ ...any more Mumford & Sons kind of stuff I should look out for? I need me some bluegrass.

About-A-Lamp-Monster In reply to bornirritating [2010-11-15 22:25:36 +0000 UTC]

Mumford and Sons is the British take on American bluegrass so of course it's gonna have a different flavor to it. But if you want to hear bluegrass essentials, try Flatt and Scruggs, Doc Watson, The Stanley Brothers (and later it was just Ralph Stanley), Ricky Skaggs, Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Raymond Fairchild (he's a really good banjo player), and Alison Krauss

The Stanley Brothers - Angel Band: [link]
The Stanley Brothers- How the Mountain Gals Can Love: [link]
Flatt and Scruggs - Rainy Day Women: [link]
Doc Watson - Travelling Man: [link]
Ricky Skaggs - Rawhide: [link]
Bill Monroe - Blue Moon of Kentucky: [link]
Del McCoury - Blackjack County Chain: [link]
Raymond Fairchild - Whoa Mule Whoa: [link]
Alison Krauss - Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us: [link]

And those guys are off the top of my head. Also, there is a channel on youtube for bluegrass: [link]
