# About me
Hello and welcome to my deviant art page!I am 22 years old, and attend Lawrence University in Appleton WI.
I am pursuing a double degree in Violin Performance and Studio Art.
I have been drawing since I can remember. After watching Titanic for the first time when I was five years old I remember drawing that ship on every place-mat of every restaurant I went to. Later on I moved on to drawing Pokemon and Yugioh cards, learning how to render realistically from a young age.
In middle school I moved onto drawing anime characters from Final Fantasy and the Mario Bros series(s), which transitioned into full fledged portrait drawing by the time I was in high school. On the side of making portraits in hyper-realist rendering I experimented with abstraction.
Throughout high school I was commissioned to draw portraits for friends, family and other people who got my name.
In college I had the goal of working solely on my violin degree and to put art aside to hone my skill. I guess you could say my art would always be there to haunt me and I forced myself to pursue two degrees. The liberal arts school I go to focuses more on conceptual ideology rather than technical development, and doesn't have focused area in drawing. I consider myself lucky that I learned technical skill when I was young because now that I am in college I can work on making art work that is not only beautiful, but meaningful.
I still believe that art that is formally beautiful (to the viewer) is fine without additional concept. With this said I am attempting to continue working with hyper-realism but I have been experimenting with themes of fantasy, surreal, sublime, and disconnection. In addition to drawing I also work with ceramics (when I am in a class that is..)
In drawing I specialize with Graphite as a medium, but I find myself just as at home with Colored pencil and Pen. I particularly like pointillism.
Some of the experimental portrait ideas I explore include: Maze Portraits, Ghosting, Photo-Realism (of course!), and fantasy/realism fusion.
In my future I hope to have jobs both in music and in art.
