Well, an adoptable is like a creature/pet/OC that you can create or buy from another user. Lots of people who purchase adoptables will use them as OC's (original characters). You can use them in stories, drawings, or any other ideas you have.
My friend has plenty of OC's (I don't know if some are adopted or are her own creations) so if you want to know what she uses hers for, I would ask her.
