i admire your work, especially the 3D. i'm amazed at people who can create that.
i might try it. what program do you use? how did you learn?

i use Cinema 4d. that's pretty popular along with Maya and 3d Studio Max. i learned by going through the functions in the program and finding out what was possible. then i started practicing on making simple objects in simple environments. and that's pretty much where i still am
it's really satisfying since you don't need to be especially skilled to create stuff that impresses who don't know much about 3d

Thank you very much for another wonderfully detailed comment. That render is nowhere near done so I shall be taking all your criticism with me to the proverbial "drawing board".

You are very good at 3D renderings. I can barely keep some of my drawings from looking flat...

Thanks for the comment on 'clone lab'.
I like those pencils you've made, it's a shame there's no way of uploading short films onto DA as I'd like to see your finished one.
I have been working on a short as well, a big space battle thing, and I've only got about six minutes of finished render so far after two years of work! Although I haven't dedicated my whole time to it, unlike you, so don't let that put you off.
Read your Devious Information, we've got the same favourite band(Pixies) and Simpsons character (Lionel Hutz).

wow you're right
I actually find 6 minutes a pretty impressive amount of time for doing a short film by your self. I'm planning on having about one minute of film, but i can imagine that animation leads to inspiration, and that i'll come up with more ideas and keep adding stuff.
I see my high school graduation as my only deadline, since i'm planning on going to a school of design in the USA I'll need a portfolio when i start applying.
As far as the Devious information, well, great minds think alike is all i can think of to say

When I started I didn't have a storyboard (or rather I did but I ignored it! ) so if you plan ahead it should be easier.
Having an actual plot will help as well, the 'plot' of my film is:
asteroid comes, people see asteroid, shoot it, gooey alien slime comes from asteroid...FIGHTFIGHTFIGHT...credits.
I am just at the start of the big battle, I have no idea how long it will last and every time I find a new cool thing Strata can do the film gets a little bit longer so I can include it.
I once made a video for the Frank Black (from the Pixies) song Billy Radcliffe, but I can't put it up on the web because of copyright.
P.S. when you finish your short, could you compress the hell out of it and put it on the web for me to see?
