# About me
Caitlin Millard is an Adelaide-based emerging artist, a recent graduate from the South Australia School of Art. During her time there she changed from painting with oils to watercolours, transferring the stories, dreams and cast of characters that occupy her thoughts out of her head and onto paper and canvas with paint and graphite. Her work is somewhat surrealistic, highly symbolic illustration with graphic elements, strong narrative and bursts of colour and detail. She is influenced by dreams, myth, legend and life.

hi Caitlin, welcome to Adelaideans! u !
please resubmit deviations for approval, I zoned out and thought I was looking at my watch list.
erk. Β I really like the subtleties of your tone and color work. travelling light is my favorite, being more of a conceptually stimulated person myself. your illustrations seem to benefit from outlines, but have you tried practicing illustrating without any outline work? as in, your olors meet each other with no defined border.
my brother is an abstract artist and lectured art for years before I was born. it was a simple idea he passed onto me. so it is just an idea. with my drawing it is ALL line work and barely any fill or color and I generally stop when it looks like something... or if I have an intention for it to look like something, because then ... critical judgement kicks in and I hate myself. where as drawing as a technique with no contrived purpose, simply making aesthetic marks. There is no judgement of 'what something is MEANT to look like', thus there is no 'imperfection'/'perfection' for my mind to scrutinize.Β
anyway! look forwards to your shared expression, and please to resubmit!

Thanks for having me!
Β I've resubmitted them now
Thank you; I think it comes across that I do really like linework - lately, I've been experimenting with less of it, and some pieces have very little obvious linework, but overall it's something that I do enjoy doing. I guess it depends on the piece and my mood when I'm painting/drawing it. I'm all for pushing myself and my art to new ideas though, and thank you again!

oh no! thank you for sharing. I was really just raving on about how with color work I love absence of linework. <3_<3

Hello Vera! I do believe we did! We had fruity gelati
It was lovely to meet you; I was kinda nervous to talk to you because I've been occasionally following your photog stuff here and didn't want to seem like a weird stalker, but I'm glad I did - you're awesome!
