My favorite is the original series. I've only seen it and the Next Generation, though. Which one is your favorite?

I think the original series is my favorite too. Voyager is a close second, Janeway.
I didn't care much for the next generation because Picard is so stuffy. He needs to lighten up.

I watched the Next Generation when I was a child, so I don't remember it all that well. I haven't decided whether I'm going to watch the other series yet. From what I've heard it seems like they try to act more realistic. In shows that just mean that everyone is a pessimist.

Nah, they are generally pretty optimistic. In Voyager the crew is taken into the delta quadrant by a more advanced being and they are forced to journey home by themselves, which is a 75 year journey (provided they don't find any wormholes or better technology). But they don't whine about it, and even when they have the opportunity to settle down on a planet they decide to keep trying to get back home.

I never really understood why so many people prefer pessimism. I think Netflix has most of the series. Perhaps I'll give it a chance.

I like the goofy cheesiness of the original series. It's just funny, both intentionally and unintentionally. I like the way the characters interact with one another, especially Spock and McCoy. I also think young Kirk is attractive.
Voyager I like mostly for Captain Janeway. It's refreshing to see a strong female character that isn't a male fantasy mary sue. She has a good sense of humor, she's witty, and has a really endearing enthusiasm about exploration and trying new things.
And I just like the sci-fi genre in general.

Yes, It's a really fun show. I agree with you about young Kirk being attractive. And he has a great smile.
I still have a long way to go til I get to voyager. I have the movies and the Next Generation to get through first. It sounds like something I'd enjoy. There aren't too many strong female characters with a sense of humor. It's like having a sense of humor is a bad trait for women.
