I lost interest and momentum after the long holiday break and couldn't get back into it. I preferred to take the chapters down rather than leave an incomplete story hanging out there.

That's totally understandable! In any case you have the chapters - in the future you may return to them! The great thing is that as the creator you can control your work. I believe that art should never be forced, and that creativity is something that requires time and rest to develop a concept into an executed project.
