I'm looking to trade again at Manifest this year, if I can get a table. They go pretty quick these days! Either way, hopefully our paths cross again.

That's right - i was curious about how you got organised for Manifest.
I'll be joining you this year, if I can get a table also.
If you don't mind, could you tell me about how you did last year? What was popular and what wasn't? I could really learn from your experience!

I did better than previous years, but to be honest I believe the growth of bigger companies at Manifest have stifled individual artists. I left thinking "darn, i have to lift my game next year!". It's going to be a challenge.

In terms of what did well, I would take the time to observe what's popular online. For example, My Little Pony is insanely popular. I would also reflect on what you saw repeatedly around Manifest - products, characters, styles.

The trick is to take your style and interests and adapt them to what your target market (Manifest attendees) see as "cool"

No probs.
My suggestion is to concentrate on small products - bookmarks, postcards, prints, badges - items that don't cost a lot (time+money) to produce. Customers are more willing to part with $1-5 on an artist's original work, than the $50+ on commercial IP. You'll get a good return for a small investment, and if things don't go so well, it won't make as huge of a dent as something like tshirts do.
