Sometimes. There's mostly changes to the original story, due to a single change in its history, as in,Β America survived. This actually gives a large opportunity for more villains to come into existence.Β The Greater Scope Villain (Bigger Bad) is pretty much worse than Johan Liebert (Monster), Yuuki Terumi (Blazblue), Izaya Orihara (Durarara) and Handsome Jack (Borderlands 2) combined (To be honest, Handsome Jack wouldn't even trust the guy). There's also references to Fallout, the Metal Gear franchise and Red vs. Blue, as well as being inspired by those series and others.
