I just wanted to say how crazy it is to see all these kids calling you Mr. Cox...but I guess that is just one more sign that we are getting old...sort of like a receding hair line.

Yeah...I really don't watch the show very often at all; but I do try to keep up with the successful contestants from Birmingham (Reuben, Bo, and now Taylor) since I'm originally from that general area.
The Auburn Magazine asked me to draw the caricature of Taylor for their publication. It was actually published a little over a week ago.

Thank you for the compliments. Things at Auburn High are essentially done now. The students are finished for the summer and we (the teachers) only have to go for 2 more days! If the Lord is willing, this time next week I'll be driving back to Auburn from a vacation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee! Mmmm...vacation....

Hey, Mr. Cox. I'm a huge fan of the gallery (I think Ive said this before) and would Love more than Anything to be in your class; however, I'm a little confused with the prerequisites. It's my understanding that you MUST take Studio in Art (which I have yet to do) before you take any of the specialized classes (drawing, painting, what have you). My question is: Do you have to take SiA to take Graphic Design? This is probably not the best place to ask these silly questions (very sorry), but I'm taking IB next year and I'm wondering if I'll be able to have time for both SiA + Graphic Design. If you could help me out that would be awesome. Thank you much!

I'm actually a little unclear about the SiA pre-requisite as well. This year it was not a pre-rec, but they are currently wrapping up a new Art Course of Study (the state-mandated documents pertaining to art education in Alabama) and I just don't know enough about it yet because it hasn't been put into action yet (I think it will be next year). Sorry I can't help you more, but for real clarity I'd ask my counselor AND Mrs. Logan (the AJHS art teacher) because she is part of the board that wrote the new C.O.S. for art ed. I really hope that you get into the class. Unfortunately, I can't just choose the people that I want to be in my class. I just teach whoever happens to land my class on their schedule.
Talk to your counselor. Let them know that you are really interested in art and let me know what they say!

Well, thanks anyway. I talked with my counseler and Mrs. LaRoux, and IB Art'll be a "Go." ---which is really nice of her (considering, I haven't taken any formal art classes since elementary school). I really wanted Graphic Design, but it couldn't be fit in to The Schedule.
Kloepper has shown me some of the stuff he has done, and it's pretty awesome what he's learned. But, whatever---can't get everything. I guess, I'll be stuck adjusting Contrast and Brightness.
