Octaves... the silence was deafening,
nearly absolute where machinery
hummed to itself quietly and
only the rustle of clothes could
be heard as she moved;
her breathing, heartbeat,
footfalls were too soft...
... and then even the buzzing
stopped, dead, dilapidated,
the building moved as if alive
but no other soul was to be
detected, as if they had all
passed on while she was
unconscious from
attempting the same...
... emptiness consumed all,
a high pitch squealing ringing
in ears straining for sound;
a mind escaping its shell to
form an infinite wasteland
no longer contained in
her tortured skull...
... a gunshot broke the silence,
then even the rustling ceased.
