# About me
For eighteen years, I taught infant children in various schools around the country. This mainly consisted of literacy and numeracy but I did occasionally (very occasionally) find time to teach the more fun subjects like music and art. I decided to change careers three years ago and in that time, I have been putting increasing amounts of effort into my art work to the point where it felt natural to paint professionally full-time.Having experienced a few mental health issues over the years, I've decided - in true artist fashion - to personify them and put them down on paper. I take an initial idea and then allow my subconscious to develop it further through the use of free association and meditation. Using this approach, I create atmospheric nightmarish images which blend psychological horror and fantasy. Due to the personal nature of my work I chose a traditional painting style rather than digital art.
I live in the UK in Doncaster and use elements from the local area in my work. My influences are varied but I mainly draw on ideas and images from the surrealism movement, Lucio Fulci’s films and the stories of H.P. Lovecraft.
