Yo, you can draw fanart for whatever you want! Is that something people ask permission for now? Weird.
Sadly I'd say you can't avoid passionless drawing if you want to improve. It won't be your best work, but you gotta try or it'll never get out of your head. If you can't tackle that big idea, do some sketching!

Hi, I found you through Frederator. I love your Channel and a lot of your stuff I can relate to especially coming from working at Jobs Where my work was never apriciated and trying to deal with Getting through school. By the way, is fundies required for all art students? I want to go to New York for animation and I'm clueless

Hello! Fundies is not a required course. Every course at each school will have its own requirements, but for art it's usually basic English credits, and a portfolio. Fundies is just a good way to build a portfolio, and your basic skills, if you have none, which is why the topics it covers are so broad that they are often of little help. Some schools, like Sheridan College, offer Illustration Fundamentals, or Animation Fundamentals. While these are generally seen as a new way to cheat you out of two years' tuition, they can be helpful if you're starting from scratch.
