Hiya! Yeah I'm really good, prety busy with uni work, but it's interesting so I'm enjoying it .
How have you been going?

hmmidontknow In reply to deadlysecrets [2009-08-29 04:27:13 +0000 UTC]
aww what are you studying? Have I already asked this?
I'm good! Getting ready for uni, in like a week and a half. ahhh. Nervous and excited. But mostly working and the like.

deadlysecrets In reply to hmmidontknow [2009-08-30 10:19:02 +0000 UTC]
I'm doing a bachelor of science, basically it's just studying drugs and their effects on the brain, both physiologica and psychological. It's good fun .
Don't be nervous, just be excited , they're really good with the pace of learning. Which uni are you going to? And I didn't know you worked, what do you do?

hmmidontknow In reply to deadlysecrets [2009-08-30 23:23:30 +0000 UTC]
That's neat! Do you want to be a psychologist?
I'm going to Wright State University which you've probably never heard of to study engineering, but it's about 15/20 minutes away from home.
Where are you going?
I'm mostly excited! But can't help but be nervous.
I'm just a part-time shelver at a library! It's a pretty good job, but I only have two days off each week (not weekends), so it seems like I work all the time. auuuuugh.

deadlysecrets In reply to hmmidontknow [2009-08-31 09:31:17 +0000 UTC]
Haha god no, I'm so not suited to be a clinical psychologist. I want to go into the research field, developing new medicinal drugs etc. I go to University of Western Australia which is cool, the grounds are really pretty .
How come your doing engineering? I've heard it's pretty interesting, but probably too much math's for my ability haha.
Oh, that'd be lovely, so quiet and peaceful. I once worked in a cafe and hated it lol. There was just no room to breathe, but I think working in a library would be so cool, and you'd be up to date on all the cool new novels out!

hmmidontknow In reply to deadlysecrets [2009-09-01 23:28:03 +0000 UTC]
haha it is a lot of math, so hopefully I can get through it. I figure as an engineer, I'll make a decent amount of money, and most likely always have a job, and plenty of options open for what I want to do. So if I can do the math I might as well go for it.
I'm going to Wright State right now because I got a really good scholarship, so I'm getting my general education classes done, and then I'll probably transfer to the University of Dayton, or somewhere close that has chemical engineering. And then I'll probably go into making drugs like you or something for the environment. I haven't decided yet!
haha Sometimes it's not as quiet as I'd like. A lot of younger kids come there right after school and it's a madhouse. But yeah, it's pretty easy-going, and I love being around the books!

deadlysecrets In reply to hmmidontknow [2009-09-19 06:40:47 +0000 UTC]
hey hey, sorry for the late reply . Well it sounds like you've got it pretty much sorted out! And yeah, if you can do the math's then, ultimately, what's stopping you? I mean, I like math's, but I've just never been very good at getting my head around it by myself. I had a math's tutor in highschool and he saved my arse when I tried to get into uni haha . There's also been some stuff in the media that scientists and mathematicians are trying to look back into the past at an atomic level which is pretty exciting stuff haha.
Mmm, I'd love to be surrounded by books...I've got a job at the moment where I ring up UWA graduates and ask them for money, and trust me, I'd prefer the books to the phones any day haha. It's good fun though, you get paid for talking ultimately, but it's scary when you can't get any donations and you keep think "Oh God, they're going to fire me, they are sooooo going to fire me" haha

Now I'm the one replying late. Unintentional! Busy with schoolwork! auuuuuuuuugh! We're on like week 8 out of 10 for the quarter. DEATH.
haha That is scary...I don't think I'd like doing that. Because I'm sure people can be such assholes to you on the phone...
I like my job! I'm not really allowed to read the books while I'm there, but I do it anyways.

Mmm, I know how school can get, it's pretty hectic sometimes haha.
Yeah, it was ultimately a crappy job; I find that telemarketing of any kind (even if it's for your own uni) just destroys your soul hah, don't ever go into it, trust me .
So you'd be nearly on holidays now, yeah? Anything exciting to look forward to?

haha I'll stay away from telephones.
Yes, I'm almost there! I've got 2 more exams to take on Thursday and then I get a relaxing 6 weeks of free time. Woohoo!
But nothing too exciting in the future. At least that I can think of at the moment. What about you?!

Good luck with your exams, and remember, get a good night's sleep, you'll actually remember more than if you cram all night .
Um, well tonight I'm seeing the midnight premier of New Moon (mum scored me some tickets ) which should be fun, then on Monday I should be going to Albany (crappy little WA town that has nooooooothing to do) with some mates and then I'm planning on re-decorating my room which is gonna be a crapload of work, but I've had it the same way for faaar too long, so I need to change it .

Thanks! I think I did okay...we'll see I guess.
Have fun!! And tell me how the movie is! I probably won't go see it until after it dies down...
Why are you going there if there's nothing to do?
mmm that sounds exciting! I love redecorating. What are you planning on doing?
My room is really messy right now. When I get busy, I start throwing stuff around, leaving stuff and the floor and it becomes really unorganized. Then I dedicate one day to cleaning and organizing. Then it gets messy again within a few weeks. Vicious cycle.

deadlysecrets In reply to hmmidontknow [2009-11-22 13:05:07 +0000 UTC]
Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for you .
Yeah it was ok, better than the first definitely, but still a bit on the not-so-good side haha. Jacob was adorable until he turned into a werewolf, then he became a bit of a jackass, which was upsetting . Edward was so emo I could almost see the rainbow tears abd death-inspired poetry , and Bella was just an idiot. But overall, it was a good piece of light entertainment .
Um, I'm planning on re-painting my room blue and green and just re-arranging the furniture. I don't want to go too crazy because I technically have two rooms and so it's going to be a crapload of work just doing the painting haha.
That's exactly the cycle of my room too! At the moment you can barely see the floor, so I've decided tonight I'll clean it all up, though I'm quite terrified of what I'll find under the clothes and such .

hahaha Good review! hmm, I suppose I can't wait to see it, in a sadistic sort of way. Well, sometimes those types of movies are exactly what you need at the time.
Neat! Dark blue and green? or lighter? At least you can transfer your room stuff to your other room temporarily, right?
then move it all back? that makes it easy! Right now I have two dressers, and one is in the middle of the room because I have no room for it. I need to get my old, empty dresser out of here, but there's nowhere in the house to put it. ugh.
But otherwise, I JUST organized my room! So good luck with yours!! Hopefully the stuff under the clothes won't be too terribly frightening.

Haha exactly, when the philosophy of the world is bearing down upon you, Twilight provides 2 hours of total brain-mush .
Um, probably light colours, I have a lot of stuff in my room so I want to make it look as big as possible, that's why I'm also getting mirror doors on my wardrobe, it'll make the room look huge which I'm quite excited about . And yeah, I'll be moving my stuff from one room to another which'll come in handy...my bed will be a bit of a problem though .
Isn't there some sort of salvation/ op shop that you can give it to if you don't have room?Or do you still want to keep it anyway? I find op shops are a godsend when you want to get rid of all your crap .
Well done! Being a messy teenager myself, I know what you've achieved by organizing your room, it's a magnificent accomplishment . Yeah, I managed to clean my room before I left for a trip with some mates down to Albany, but the moment I got back it was like the room became messy all by itself, as if my presence alone is enough to cause complete chaos with all my stuff .

yay brain mush! That's what's happening to our young generation. But it gets them reading more I suppose too.
Ah, that's exciting! Good luck!
yeah! We take our clothes there all the time. We generally give our stuff to Goodwill. Just because those are the major salvation stores around here.
But anyways, my dad wants to try to sell it, which is why we haven't done that yet.
hahah I know what you mean

deadlysecrets In reply to hmmidontknow [2009-12-09 12:44:39 +0000 UTC]
That's true, I would rather a literate teenage population that's obsessed with vampires than a teenage generation that is obsessed with vampires from T.V. series but can't even read But at the same time, I think people are really starting to pay attention to the flaws in Twilight, like the glorification of suicide, the traditional gender roles etc. Even Stephen King put his foot down and said enough is enough. Though it does keep the stories of mythical creatures alive, which is always a bonus, so I suppose like anything it has it's pros and cons.
Ah yes, gotta love garage sales, I've never held one personally but a friend of mine did and it was amazing how much money she got for some of her stuff .

Hey hey!
Awww, thanks, that means a lot!!
Yeah it has been a while. I've been pretty good, just finished my summer holidays and am back at uni doing neurology type stuff . I also managed to snag a spot in a band called the West Australian Symphonic band and I'm reeaaally enjoying it .
How about you? What have you been doing to keep yourself busy?

hubbub In reply to deadlysecrets [2009-02-24 17:35:08 +0000 UTC]
I've just finished my exams but have another set in the summer then I'm off to Uni! Woo (to study Media and History Can't wait) So I've just got to survive another few months or so lol. So I've just been working really, hanging out with friends when I have the time (which usually means we end up watching sports or in the bowling alley lol. I've become an awesome pool player) Also catching up on tv (Im now addicted to Supernatural)
So thats about it.
What sort of music do you play in the band? It sounds really awesome.

deadlysecrets In reply to hubbub [2009-02-25 14:48:44 +0000 UTC]
How come you've got two sets of exams? And good luck for them both! What subjects are you studying?
Media and History, that sounds really interesting. I always slightly regretted not learning more about history at high school, mainly because a lot of it is quitw fascinating .
Where do you work? I had a job over the holidays but I couldn't really fit it in with uni, so it kind of just dissintergrated lol.
Haha, I'm addicted to a show called Psych, it's about a really observant guy pretending to be a psychic to try and help solve crimes for the Santa Barbara Police Department. It's actually pretty funny. I'm such a wimp, supernatural is a bit spooky for me, especially when I'm up at 4am and have an over-active imagination lol.
I'm in a concert band and we play stuff like marches (we've got one at the moment which is soo cheesey haha) and orchestral music. It's heaps of fun .

hubbub In reply to deadlysecrets [2009-02-25 18:40:42 +0000 UTC]
I dont really know why we have 2 sets lol. We do a set in January, then learn a new topic and do more exams in June and then add up the points to get an overall grade. I'm doing history (which we study mainly WW2 and Civil rights in America), art and english (which i kinda regret taking, you can only do so much shakespeare before your head explodes. Plus Chaucer in middle english is rather hard) What are you studying?
I'm in between jobs at the moment lol. Trying to save up for a car for when I pass my test which is hopefully soon.
The band sounds cool. I'm not musical at all (unless you count singing along really badly as musical ) The rest of my family are though, probably one of the reasons music never appealed to me (I have to be the odd one out) You have any other hobbies? (And I've always hated the word hobby for some reason)

deadlysecrets In reply to hubbub [2009-02-26 11:30:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, we have a similar system over here, we call it T.E.E. (Tertiary Entrance Exams). I freaked out when I did mine and then I regretted it because it so wasn't worth the angst lol.
That sounds great! And you're studying art, lucky. I'd love to study art officially, I reckon it'd be so much fun. I'm doing a Bachelor of Science at the moment. This is my second year and we have to start specialising, so because I still have NO clue what I want to do for the rest of my life I chose subjects that would allow my to go into either a double major of psychology (which is so mainstream I hate it lol) or a neuroscience program with a second major of pharmacology.
Yeah, it helps that I have a few mates in the band as well (and don't worry, my singing is pretty awful; it's very loud and abrasive ). Well I used to take Kung Fu classes, but I've recently lost interest in it lol. And I'm going to join a gym instead and go with mate, kinda like gym buddies . And I wouldn't really call it a hobby, but I'm tutoring some first year uni students this year in some subjects I took last year. The classes start in about a week, so I'm really excited! What about you? .

Yeah I lvoe doing art, the teacher is a bit strict though and veeery opiniated so its kinda hard lol. Get my art exam on Tuesday and then a month to figure out what to do for it. Fuuun
I dont really have a much of idea what to do with my life either lol. I still have to choose a Uni and specify the course. Its sooo hard though. But your choices sound rather cool.
lol the best way to sing is loud! Especially in a car. I havent really had much time to do anything really - its been revision, school work, weekend (sleeep) lol. When I do have the time I write or go for a run, play badminton or something. I've recently gotten into making clothes again. My gran taught me to sew and knit when I was younger and I've recently picked it up again. Never been much of a gym person lol, done it for a while for school but then swapped to rock climbing (preferably the indoor kind lol. Much warmer ) I also looove to read especially sci-fi or comedy. You got a fav genre of books?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
deadlysecrets In reply to hubbub [2009-03-07 11:12:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I think it's much harder to get the creativity going when you have strict authorities breathing down you're neck. I hope your exam went well!
Haha, yeah science is loads of fun...come over to the dark side and learn about how drugs affect your body in biochemistry and learn how to manipulate people in psychology haha . Just kidding.
Haha yeah, I've always got a song cranking in my car, can't help myself . Wow, you run? That's an achievement on it's own! I can't be bothered doing much exercise, especially with the hot weather down here. Though it's starting to cool down, so I'm gonna have to think of another excuse .
I love making clothes! Unfortunately I don't have any extra money to buy any fabric, plus I'm terrified of messing it up and possibly breaking my mum's sewing machine .
Yeah I'm a real book worm. my favourite genre is fantasy or sci-fi (like terry pratchett, total legend ) at the moment I'm reading Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (the guy who wrote Stardust) and wanna get my paws on the rest of the Obernewtyn Chronicles, they're wicked too. Although after I've finished Good Omens I wanna start on Stardust .
