I like DA. Easy to post and easy to make friends. At first I just had an e-hentai account. But the people who talk there are mostly assholes. And I had a previous account under a different name before this one. So I already knew how the site worked.

yea too many break the rules cause "its named deviant-art so its made for people who deviates from the norm"... may as it well be, they have to follow international laws as well as do stuff to defend themselves from people who wanna abuse the system as it is for 13+

I am fine with sticking to the posting rules here as I just put my full comics on e-hentai. If anything my gallery would be too crowded if I posted everything here. That said, I'm pretty anal about the rules. I've only blocked two people ever. One a complete troll who tried to force me to work for him, the other a rabid anti-vaxxer that couldn't stop talking to save his life. I've also noticed a lot of kids on DA being under 18 and having their mature content filters off. Last I checked you had to be over 18 when signing up for DA to be able to turn off mature content filters. But that was years ago. So I don't know if that rule is still in effect.

it is, but kids break the rules all the times by making accounts to seem older so they can look at porn. its up to their parents to discipline the kids but hey, this is the internet, its the new baby sitter

True. But I've had to warn several kids who told me their ages not to tell anyone else because they could get their accounts shut down if the wrong person found out. And that they could get other people in trouble by association.
The age issue has caused problems for me in the past as well. Not for myself, but for a person I had a short issue with. She posted an image of a sexy pumpkin headed girl with a little bit of a horror motif. It was a great image, really well made. I commented below it that I'd never thought of a erotic pumpkin headed girl, and that I might try it one day. The artist then commented back to please not speak of her art as erotic. I was about to apologize and redact the comment when I suddenly realized she'd banned me. I got stupidly angry and posted a journal entry explaining what happened and linked the image. Many upon many agreed the image was an erotic pose. Red leotard with a clear view of the ass while legs were spread. The word "Sexy" was even in the image description. At first I thought that was it and moved on. Then I started getting attacked by people supporting the artist who were claiming she was a kid. I had no idea of this. There was nothing on her profile to indicate age. But a few of them backed down when I pointed out that if she was a kid and has her mature content filter off, then she lied about her age when making her profile. Because last I checked if you're a minor on DA and have truthfully told DA so when making a profile, your actual age is listed till you're legally 18. But her name and age were not listed at all. And she was in groups that had mature content. Around five of her supporters were white knighting me like a bunch of yappy teenagers. Then the artist of the image that started it all contacted me and we apologized to each other and both admitted fault. She admitted blocking me before I could apologize was a stupid thing to do. And I apologized for telling everyone. I deleted the journal and explained to everyone to leave her alone. But the damage was done. She decided to abandon her DA account and make a new one. I told her she didn't have to. But she said she felt like her original profile had been ruined. I felt so ashamed and stressed that I could barely eat for a day. I made another journal to try and tell everyone to leave her alone. And she was appreciative of this. But then she contacted me later saying I was being very immature, and that my supporters were still attacking her. Like I had secretly told them to lay into her or something. So I told her that I'd publicly told them to stop, and to tell me who was bugging her and I'd put a stop to it. She never responded back. Which makes me wonder if she was secretly kind of a bitch to begin with. Because the only way those white knighters could have found out she was a kid was if she told them. I found out from asking around that most of them didn't even know her prior. Meaning she might have gone crying to them and sent them after me to begin with. And then tried to stir the pot one last time. Either way I deleted everything pertaining to the issue and intentionally forgot the name of her accounts. And I honestly never wanna go through a mess like that again.

yikes, thats one heck of a story but to be fair, ive been close to this several times myself and some people ban you for the slightest issue.
this one nature photographer i watched posted a picture of a small husky puppy and i couldnt resist linking that one meme of the dwarven husky who had the bark changed to "fuck" as it was going all over the place. found out later that the photographer banned about 40 or so people due to this one link instead of just taking it in stride. cant remember his name for the life of me anymore and i more feel sad over the fact that some people just need to go out of their way to make sure their art is "clean" so to speak, even if it can be related to something else.
ive also run into more than my fair share of artists who draws lewd art and say they dont want people sexualize their art as its "their oc just doing stuff they do" but that dont really fly as you shouldnt draw the character in a erotic or sensual position or spot to begin with. thats like pouring gas on a pile of leaves and lit them at the same time.

Yeah the girl that banned me honestly seemed a bit hypocritical about her art. A chunk of it was nude anthros similar to stuff from Sonic The Hedgehog. Basically no privates drawn in, but with curvy bodies and moderate sized boobs, and next to no clothing. Like how Sally Acorn in the sonic comics only wore a open vest. I think that once I spoke of one of her images as erotic, it opened the metaphorical flood gates and then that whole mess happened. I can't even find the pic that started it all online anymore with a reverse image search. I'm not sure she ever reposted it anywhere. Which is a shame. I don't remember the artist's name, and I don't want to. The less I have to do with her at this point, the better.
