Well my Dutch studies are correct. The Dutch are very private. Friendly, but private. And brutally honest. Not offensive, just honest.

Well I am a history student. I love Dutch history. You guys are like the best European state EVER. You guys are accepting of religious differences, homosexuality, and are very open minded. You guys did have a Colonial Empire, but you guys never EXPLOITED people the way, oh let's say, the English, French, or Spanish did. You guys are historically bankers, so you guys helped us Americans early on with money. But anyway, you guys are just awesome. You are what I want America to be. And on a personal level, I love coffee and want to tour your coffee houses.

I am a lover of all things coffee. I have very little interest in marijuana. I think it should be legal here, but I have no interest to use it. I have taken it before. It's a good plant, but not for me. I'd rather a sick person use it. I am a historian. My fellow countrymen are well, dumb. They barely know their own history. I love my people, but I look to the Dutch state as a practical society. We have "Dutch" people in America. Once again, our foolish minds took the word Deutsch (German) and call it "Dutch". Thus, in Pennsylvania, my home state, we have many Germans who we call "Dutch". In fact, I am of this Pennsylvania Dutch decent. My ancestors were Mennonites, Anabaptists, who came from Switzerland and Lower Germany. They spoke (and still speak) High German.

Yeah, I always wondered why we are called Dutch, while in the Dutch language
we have Duits, which means German.
But oh well things are what they are.

I really find it a shame that a lot of Americans don't know about their own history, let alone know about the Netherlands and our history.
Do you know that a lot of Americans don't know why New York and the Netherlands have a sort of special bond?
One of the things that always amazes me is the fact that the Japanese only let the Dutch trade with them.

Yes, the Dutch gave the Japanese the words "pan" (bread) and water. And tempura! They also gave them rifles which allowed for the Shogun to rise to power.
Old New York was once New Holland and New York City was once New Amsterdam. Dutch was spoken in New York well into the 19th century. Many places in the city are Dutch.

I went to "kamp Westerbork" a few years ago. I don't know if you know "kamp Westerbork".
It made a huge impact on me, especially an emotinal impact. Although there isn't much left, the museum on "kamp Westerbork" contains stuff which were found when "kamp Westerbork" was freed.
I've also been to the "Anne Frank" house. That was even more impressive. The idea that people went through all that just because of what they believed in.
I just can't imagine how much pain and suffering they have been through just because of their faith.
I personally don't really have an opinion about the fact that our nation was invaded. Of course it is sad that it happened. I wish it didn't. But it was inevitable.

I know of Westerbork. I hate Nazis. And I don't care for Germans. I've been to Terezin Concentration Camp, in the Czech Republic. They were monsters. And we let them go after the war. Only top Nazis were executed. The whole nation were collaborators. I refuse to learn German. I am angry because I am of Ukrainian and Jewish decent. They.....destroyed my ancestral village. My people were forced into the army (Wermact) or killed on the spot. I can never forgive.....or at least......not now. I feel the same about Russians. They killed 33 million Ukrainians. Stalin and Hitler, what bastards.
Anyway, how do you feel about Americans? We should be your best friends (given we liberated you guys). And secretly, we like you guys a lot.

Because I am not from Jewish decent or anything like that, I don't feel like I am allowed to hate them the way you do.
I understand you though. And I just can't comprehend why somebody would/could things that happened.
I hope you understand what I mean when I say all the above. Although I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of Germans or Russians. But I also try not to judge too much. Seeing the history, I believe that lots of bad things happened because people judge others too soon or too harsh.
I don't personally know Americans, but I think you are pretty great. I mean I admire the American Dream. In movies Americans always boast about going to Europe, while in Europe we boast about going to America.
Indeed the Americans liberated us. I am very gratefull for that. Seeing that America suffered because of it, I admire it even more.

Yeah, I work at a baker. Some of my co workers are on vacation so I replace them while they are enjoying the last bit of summer.
I have to earn money somehow and this work isn't too bad. The only down side is the early hours sometimes.

Yeah, I work there for 2,5 years now. I got a few burnes over the years.
One burn is still visable. But that is inevitable if you work with an oven.
