well I was just wondering how you speak (write) English so well as I saw that you live in Indonesia- I'm always interested in how people live in other places of the world.
Myself I was born in Uzbekistan (former USSR). But I am of Ukrainian descent. I speak Russian fluently but can't read or write because my family moved to the U.S. when I was just 5 years old. I live in NYC so I'm used to people of different cultures and backgrounds.

your english is not terrible at all. Its not perfect of course but I can easily understand what you're trying to say. I think you would get along just fine here.
I am an American citizen =]. I was only 5 years old when I came here so I don't have anything to miss back where I was born. I was born in Uzbekistan, grandparents are all Ukrainian and I am Jewish BUT I often say that if i had to fight in war for any country it would be the U.S. 100%. And I guess it helps that I live in New York, many of my friends are Russian speaking- I'm able to keep a lot of my Russian/Jewish culture. NY and big cities in general are much different from typical America. Typical America is white and christian- they often don't like immigrants and anyone other than white american christians unfortunately.
What else is cool about NYC is that so many things happen here and so many famous people are from here. Judge Judy, Chris Rock, Charles Schumer a Supreme Court Justice, and other famous people went to my high school (which had about 4,500 students when I was there). The first college I went to has about 20,000 students, the one I go to now has like 15,000. New York and everything about it is huge. lol i feel like I'm writing a book- I just really like it here. Some people hate it because of the noise and crowds and anonymity but I've been to small cities close to NY and everything seems dead there. I'm going to research Indonesia, I'm interested in how it is there.
hope this wasn't too long lol

well...
i am 100% Indonesian. Indonesia is an archipelago country. with thousands islands. i live in Jogjakarta. a big city but still full of tradition , culture and art. Jogjakarta is called "student City of Indonesia". because many colleges and university here. so, students around the country go to Jogjakarta to study.
here, i live alone. because my parents live in another city called Salatiga. i came to Jogjakarta also for studying. and when i get back to salatiga, i feel the same way with what you feel. i feel salatiga like dead city. because salatiga is very small city with cool air and people around the city know each other.
i hear a lot about NYC. and u know what? i never been abroad before. now, I'm still doing my final thesis for my bachelors degree. then I'll apply for a scholarship in Fulbright foundation. so that i can go to USA to continue my study.
u are a Jewish right? I'm a Catholic. do U mind?
so, what are you doing right now? work? or study?
