Yaaay!
Thanks! Yeah it was for a photography project. It was some long-winded arty-farty exploration / research photography kinda thing, but I just did this. Haha!
See ya.

Hahaha!!
Well, it definitely made it, like, 50 times more exciting and intriguing, and gave it oodles of uniqueness to boot. Hopefully you got tons of extra marks for doing that.

You're very welcome!
Gah... riiight, because the true purpose of every artist in the world is to be exactly the same as every other artist in the world...-__- (I'm being sarcastic, hope you can tell! o_o )
I'm sorry to hear that. In my opinion, it was a pretty awesome approach to photography!

but an emberyo has no emotion, even if they did die. if someone changes their mind after sex, they might not want to be a parent, and what if they were raped? I can see your point of view but there are ultimately more points to support abortion, at least what i can see.

dishpan In reply to Slingycartoonz [2014-06-04 09:55:27 +0000 UTC]
So emotion determines humanity, according to you. What about those with the psychological predisposition against emotion (sociopaths, mentally ill, etc.)? Are they human? I tend to believe that all humans have inherent value, and thus that their lives supersede other obligations or perceived rights. Legality does not mean morality.
Rape does not make the child inhuman.
I do not intend on arguing the case with you.

me neither, but the last statment just makes it seem you desire to shut me up, are you afraid to discuss your opinion?
If a person is forced to have a baby against their will, they should have the right to humanely put down a child they do not want.
Futuses can't feel pain. Until abortion is proven to cause them pain, then I will think about changing my views.
One should only have a child when they fully decide to, but I do suppose the parent shouldn't kill the child but put them into an orphanage if possible. But if the parent is prone to miscarriages or they won't be able to orphan their child?

I think you misunderstood me when I said that I do not intend on arguing the case with you. I did not mean to "shut you up"; rather, I have learned over the years that arguing cases as controversial and pervasively polarizing as this, it does not help either side to argue about it in small bodies of text. The debate is far better suited for longer, more in-depth, nuanced discussions - which I am not intent on entering into at present. Arguing the case in such faceless (emotionless) snippets is a sure way to lose friends and alienate people (excuse the reference).
However, I have a few points which I would like you to consider.
1. When two people engage in intercourse, they do so with the knowledge that it has the possibility of resulting in pregnancy. This means that they accept that possibility (evidenced by their use of contraception), and subsequently choose to engage in intercourse. The acceptance of the possibility precedes the action which could cause the pregnancy. Thus it is the responsibility of the people choosing to engage in the action to ensure that they are prepared to accept the consequences. This much should be obvious - it means that, if the child is indeed human and indeed alive (as science has proven beyond all doubt - see the law of Biogenesis), the continuation of that life should be ensured by those who brought him or her into existence. People are not forced to engage in intercourse. However, since that intercourse sometimes results in pregnancy (which they are fully aware of), they should be willing to accept their responsibility to bring that child to fruition.
2. I find it extremely disturbing - and I cannot thoroughly express my complete discontent at this - that you concede the child's humanity by referring to him or her as a child, but then continue to add that the parent OUGHT TO have the "right" to "put down" the child (as one would an animal). Tell me then: where do you draw the line? Why is it alright for people to kill their children before birth, but not after?
3. I think you may need to do some more research on fetal pain (as well as abortion procedures). Check out: www.doctorsonfetalpain.com/fet… . It is one of many sources which presents evidence for a fetus's ability to perceive pain. Furthermore, if there is indeed not a consensus on when exactly pain can be felt, should the benefit of the doubt not be granted? If there is a chance that fetuses feel pain without our knowledge, wouldn't it be humane to accommodate that chance?
I find it extremely problematic that you concede the child's humanity and status as alive, because it effectively makes the act of abortion murder (killing of the innocent). Thus according to you, murder is acceptable if it is pain-free. How can you sustain such an incoherent worldview?
4. I disagree with the statement "one should only have a child when they fully decide to". Rather, one should only engage in intercourse when the people who engage in it are willing to accept the possible consequences (another human life being at stake). Furthermore, you actually concede that it is killing ("I do suppose the parent shouldn't kill the child"). This is utterly disturbing - there should be NO justifications for murder. The moment you remove the right to life from the unborn human, you effectively remove your own right to life, because it would be dubious to assert your own right but to denounce that of another.
Miscarriages, by definition, are accidental; unplanned. They are a horrendous and unfortunate event in which the mother (and father) loses a child against their will. It would then be counter-productive to willingly murder the child to avoid accidentally losing the child. Your reasoning is extremely flawed. Furthermore, there is no such thing as not being able to orphan a child. Have you never heard of adoption?
People in your position often state that it would be acceptable for the child to be aborted if it were to be disabled in some way. Utterly, utterly inhuman. This actually argues that all handicapped people should have been aborted (which some people blatantly admit), and by the corollary that we should have the right to exert our power over "lesser people" to ensure our own convenience.
Are you familiar with Foucault's writings on the power/knowledge construct? It is as applicable here as it is on all genocide and abuses of power to subvert one group of people in order to exert another - those in power (the current generations) exercise their power over those in their power (the unborn children) in order to give themselves the convenient advantage over the children. If that does not seem unjust to you, then I am afraid our differences are incontrovertible. If I have been unable to convince you that all humans have inherent value which supersedes other obligations and rights, then our discussion cannot go further. You yourself, having realized your place in a society of equals, should have the common sense to see that everyone has the same value as you. It is archaic and barbaric to believe that some people (present generations) ought to be able to murder others (those yet unborn).

I honestly did read your long post, my views are now different to what I used to believe, but if you want people to listen to your points, a shorter more concise way would be necessary in your artworks.
