# About me
5/18/2013I live in the Metro Detroit area of south-eastern Michigan with my husband and my two sons.I graduated at the end of April, 2013, with a BA in social science with an education concentration, summa cum laude, from Ashford University. I have been accepted for the master's program in linguistics, concentrating on teaching language arts, at Oakland University in Michigan. I hope to go on for a doctoral degree in composition and rhetoric after that, and eventually to teach first-year composition and basic English at the post-secondary level, as well as remedial English for adults returning to school. I have recently been hired to work at the local Pittsburgh Paints store, and I am looking forward to meeting the challenge in the very positive working environment that I have observed in the store.
My family and I are actively involved in French and Indian War reenactment; we are also somewhat active in medieval reenactment through our involvement in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Volunteer activities are important to us. We are very active in our local Episcopal church, where I am a Eucharistic minister. I am a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
For fun and relaxation, I am working on an on-going project of compiling a book of written memories of my life for my children, because I fear the hereditary nature of Alzheimer's Disease, which is currently claiming my father. I recently finished compiling a book of genealogy research that traces my ancestry back from me, generation by generation, and it was published this spring. I am also converting a large collection of family stories into a series of children's books. I enjoy drawing, painting (acrylics and watercolors), and various fiber crafts. I am learning to grow our own food with an organic garden.
