Good work Fred,
You've managed to keep an energy flow in each piece that feels natural as the eye waders about the form. Good compositions, good finish work, definitely reflects a craftsman with many years experience but also an inherent intuitive understanding of the material...

Looks great! I just got back (2min ago) from a artsy town in Washington state called Laconner. Went there to check out metal sculptures, there were many versions of the tank/gong sculptures. Your organic stand wins hands down.

Oh! I live in Washington State... Tacoma area. Is that an event that I missed? Or is it town with metal sculputes displayed about the area that I can still go to view?

I need to learn of this! My boyfriend does metal work and since he's visiting me soon, I'd love to go see some WA pieces with him. *runs to google* Whatever info you can tell me, I'd love to hear (note me, before this artists page gets cluttered with my enthusiasm)! ~Deb

Hi Deb, Laconner isn't the end all for metal sculpture but theres a couple of store that have sculpture gardens in their yard. You should be able to find it, its a wee town. Lots of neat antique shops and gift shops, take a drive around the neighbourhood and check out some of the old funky homes. From Laconner you can drive up the scenic Chuckanuck drive, you'll find the Chuckanuck Art Gallery that has a sculpture garden as well. Nice small store with more worthwhile items in there.

Cheers,

Miles

Here's a possable tip for your metal artist boyfriend: I use a couple of chemicals for adding patina and rust to metal, it does an awesome job. The company is: [link] From thier large selection I picked out my favorites: Tri-Black F (antique black) and Rusty Red-F. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. milesvy@shaw.ca

I'm very impressed with your work, pretty good stuff you have here. I work for a company in Colorado that designs & sells deck's & patio covers. Our only interaction of metal is with the aluminum & steel in the patio covers as well as iron or aluminum sometimes used for railing in decking. If you have a business card or any brochures for work that you personally do or the company you work for you are welcome to send them to me. Just message me for the address of the company and I'll give it to you. Don't get overwhelmingly excited or anything, we are just a small company but sometimes we do get huge projects where we do home remodeling or additions and in those cases who knows? Maybe a specially designed gate or fencing, or even perhaps interior decorating items.

I've recently dealt with this dude in Boulder, Colorado, he has an amazing story of how he actually immigrated here from Canada and was given some kind of Artisan Pass. Anywayz he's the only one ever to get that type of pass for Blacksmithing!! Check out his stuff, it's really good, but astronomically expensive at like $300 - $750 a linear foot. If you can present a lower cost more economical option for railing or things like that, that MIGHT get you some business sometime in the future. Who knows?

I dunno man, but thank you for stopping by and dropping a comment. I'll watch you and see what new designs you come up with.

peace

You have some very nice stuff here.

I also appreciated the advice you gave ~Silver11k. I joined DA so that I could get feedback on my art pieces and help others do the same. What I found was a popularity contest. Once I looked past that I found some good people. You seem to be one of those people.

Thanks

LM

I don't have a sketch ready yet--I'll try to make one in the next few days. The design in my mind is just a simple square rod, tapered and twisted at the ends (untwisted in the middle) and formed to fit the wrist.

I'm keeping your comment to remind me to sketch something up..

Thanks for the fave on "Foliate Me, Final"

Question for you--how much would you charge for a simple wrought iron bracelet? I've been seeing this design in my head, but I have no forge...
