There are many different ways, types, and sizes of dolls to purchase
Ask yourself these several questions
1- What size is right for you?
These dolls range in size from about 10cm small to 82cm tall.
I started with a 27cm but knew that the 65-70cm sizes were right for me (I have 5 dolls that are 65-72cm).
2- What is your #1 dream doll?
I have/had a list of 5 dolls, I now own 2 of the 5 and still own them. You are more likely to bond with a dream doll quicker. Everyone I know who has purchased their dream doll still has it and is unwilling to sell it.
3- What is your budget? Do you have the money now or do you need to save?
The first doll in my collection was a 27cm Dollfie Plus she at the time cost me about $150 to complete. My second was my Dollshe Hound Skah, it took me about 15 months to save the money for him. My 3rd took 2 months and my 4th was about another month after that.
4- Do you want to purchase new or used?
I am the first owner of most of my dolls, a few of my dolls have had 1 owner, and 3 have had more then one owner before me. I bring the dolls home because they need a good home where they are loved reguardless of their previous lives.
5- Do you have a specific plan and look for the doll?
If you buy a doll from a company you can choose to have the company paint it or to paint it yourself or send it to someone to have a custom painted doll.
Most of my dolls I purchased blank, Reno was purchased with a faceup by the company but was repainted by SDink about 4 months after I bought him 2nd hand, Mulberry has default company faceup, Lucien was a completely customized and modded head by SDink I purchased because of how he looked and Midnight, the poor girl, I have had her for a year and I have yet to paint her.
Each of these questions impact how and where you will end up buying your first doll and if you will be happy with your first doll.

Does anyone know how to quiet the squeeky bjd? I have a 27cm slim male obitsu thats noisy, especially around the stomach/waist area, while posing

My doll did that too. I put a little regular lotion on the hip joints and she has on squeeked sense. However, I think I put too much because she seems to be to mobile now.

Baby powder (aka talc powder) in the joints. Not to much though....just a little goes a long way!

All customized dolls as long as they're sculpted (as in not plushies, or anything like that.)

Hello! I'll be joining soonish, once I get my dolls face up finished but I do have a question for you all and I haven't been able to find an answer for it or get one even on the Obitsu LJ community.
I was wondering if there is any other item I could use to seal/gloss the Vinyl head of my doll aside from Varnish. If that's all that I can use, that'd be nice info to know too
