Welcome DeviantArt. I am Cyres. A friendly guide, author, and artist. I too have posted fanfiction on this site, though, I used the journal system (andΒ mainly use fanfiction.net). Don't get too discouraged. I know it can be confusing when your new, but you have to get used to it, and know it better and it takes time.
DeviantArt has been experiencing some malfunctions (mainly in connecting to the site), but this could be an error stemming from that.
DAWelcomeWagon is a great group which provides information to new deviants that you may find helpful.

I'm going to try completing my profile like you said, maybe that will help. Perhaps it is just a malfunction though. Frustrating as I'd love to start posting. Ah well.
