# About me

Student, falconer and bird lover!
I am in love with oil paints but I'm still learning their wily ways. I tend to start them but never finish them to my liking. Perhaps that is why photography has been growing on me...click the shutter and it is done!
I also make leather hoods for myself.

YAY FALCONER! Have a watch and a llama I also love falconry and birds of prey! I would like to try a redtail someday, but right now my male harris is the ONLY bird for me. I can't wait to get out with him this season, it'll be our first together! :3
(PS) I love your art :')

Harris' Hawks are really awesome birds. Are you in the UK?

I agree with you there Yes I am, I assume you are in the US? I love the laws over there, they're much more efficient than the (non-existent ones) here. Pretty much anyone can go and get a bird and then post on a stupid forum "Wha do I feed meh Barn Owl/Harris Hawk/Golden Eagle". I'm in my third year working with birds, my first year hunting as I volunteer everyday for a new centre (3 years old), and as you can imagine in the current climate the last few years has been a bit too hectic to get much of the real thing done! SO I was only welcomed into the world of birds three-and-a-bit years ago now, so I'm still a bit newbish.

Yes I am in the US, usually Maryland or New York. Our laws are a good thing in some ways but can be overbearing. For example, importation laws are ridiculous and far too strict at the moment for birds of prey (even captive bred birds!!). I do appreciate the apprentice system and wild take.
With such a young center it would make sense that there would be little time to work on getting a bird on game, but now that you've got the chance...there's nothing like it!
I'm not that far into the sport myself, this being the start of my third year I have bred and raised gamebirds for at least 10 years prior so not new to birds, just birds of prey.

Well I can understand how sometimes the laws must be annoying, finding a sponsor must be difficult too in some areas.
I'm SO EXCITED () for this season :') Thing is, my HH is a display hawk too so my bosses kept him working (as he is one of the best birds we have *looks proud*) for too long, he only went down for moult at the end of last month -_- So he probably won't be moulted out by August which is when I ideally want to pull him and get him working again, bag him some easy bunnies to get him going. Now said bosses say he's not coming out til' he's finished moulting, COMPLETELY, which is what I want too for obvious reasons (he had a bad moult last year, the frets were awful)... BUT WHY THE HELL NOT LET ME PUT HIM DOWN IN APRIL SO I COULD START THE FRAGGIN' SEASON ON TIME?! Bit gutted tbh. Lawl, sorry you had to read that. Rant over.
My Dad used to be a (quite well known- Falconer of the Year sometime or other ) falconer so I started learning really since I was about eight. I read every book I could find in the house and learnt how to tie knots, put equipment on and make some of it. In three years I've worked with many birds of prey, and I'm just starting to fly the longwings.
So is it this time next year you will be a general? Or is it 5 years? -__-

For a number of years I did falconry with a red tail back before I moved across country and had to give it up, so let me say how awesome it is to see your photos up here of your own bird.
