Tee hee. Are you knowledgable about fstop/ISO/shutter speed stuff? I know the rules like halving shutter speed and moving two fstops gives the same results and stuff like that, but I have no benchmark to move FROM. For example, on a day like today, assuming I have a tripod, what would be a good small aperature/long exposure setting to get really crisp photos?

Hmmm...I'm semi-knowledgeable. Are you using a fully manual camera? You mentioned ISO here, you should have plenty of light, so if you want crisp pictures, have a low ISO. Another point is, if you increase the fstop (small aperature) you will have a great DOF, which could be kind of nice. Because of tha though, you probably will want to raise the exposure, which might cause some cool effects with the wind blowing on the snow.

For settings, ISO 100 is probably a good standard, though 200 is fine. I;m not sure what your lense will allow for fstops, but 4.0-5.6 (higher is fine if you want more DOF) I would think is ok, and shutter speeds is then up to how you want the picture to come out. Obviously, the faster it is, it can be really clear and sharp, while with being slow, with the wind everything could look really smooth.

I hope that helps, and that it came out all accurate.

Yeah, thanks for the tips. I've been trying to get the stupid light meter working all day (new camera), and now I've basically lost my chance. I have no idea when I'm even going to have a chance to get out there with daylight again...damnit.
