Perhaps off the waves our minds send off. Maybe the bacteria that may bring someone from the dead can sense that. Though that would lead to implications of ones that target certain systems such as the nervous and the circulatory systems. That may also explain as to why just a bite or scratch from anywhere on your person would infect your so quickly as it go to certain areas first. Such as the brain. this is merely for "virus" zombies. If it's "otherworldly" ones. Then perhaps they go for where they sense the most heat or activity. That, or maybe the brain houses our souls. Well for all I know. It could very well be that it taste like bacon.
