digital media is a masters degree XD i took it half a year after i finished descomp cos i wanted to study more about video stuff. I did ok in descomp, i don't think i was top of the class XD

By real graphic design i mean studying typography and printing and illustrator... they never thought us any of those in my year... it was more programming and experimental stuff like activeWorlds... do they still toture u guys with aWorlds too? hahaha

lol.. my bad XD...i was just thinking about COFA's digital media course XD...
but yeah like i was asking alot of ppl about this... but do u think it's neccessory to add another masters on top of ur undergrad?? cos like i was talking to katie n like she did fine art masters in cofa n now she's doing programming/scripts...n many ppl r planning to do master on top of design comp cos it's to broad... what do u think...?? should i plan to do a masters too???O.o??

lol but yeah typography... i dunt think they teach it ... but like i did it during my first yr in ACU n transferd to design comp cos i needed the more technical stuff.. XD here in usyd they expects us to learn by ourselves.. i was lucky to be spoon fed...

active worlds??havent heard of them yet... XD i'm only first yr... but we use processing.org for design programming... dying at the moment!!! DA has gotten a hold of me... XD this is bad... XD

Well you'll be glad to know the judges quite liked it. But yeah i think we can see it was little unfinished because her shoes wasn't filled in.

Aw thank you!! ;_; Lately I've been trying to move away from the typical anime direction and incorporate more 'designerly' elements into my work (I have no real design education, so this is to be interpreted loosely XD), so it's really very awesome to get that kind of feedback! XD

If you 're interested in that kind of style, you may like to check out the work of Wakamatsu Kaori and Kamijou Eri - Wakamatsu Kaori's work in particular was actually the catalyst/inspiration for me, so yeah... I really dig her stuff.

I think sometimes design edutation is overated haha... a lot of creative don't have formal trainining they're just naturally creative

*laugh* That's exactly where I first saw her works too! (well, technically I remember seeing her postcards at a department store in Japan, but I didn't actually take note of the artist at the time...)

I suppose if you're a natural genius, you'll churn out brilliant stuff regardless of any education you get; but for the rest of us mere mortals, I think design education, at the very least, should provide an inspiring and supportive environment which continually challenges you... but that's an outsider's view, and I'm sure it's a total romanticisation of how it actually is. XD;;

hahaha... i think design education gives you a lot of foundation. i never consider my education to be a real design education because my course was not a proper design course >_<

you can either be the kind of designer that can design well and copy other ppl's styles (which is prolly me atm)

or the type that pushes boundaries, creates something new and set design trends (which is what i want to be haha..) this is the one that can't be taught by schools

well in any case a design education is good stepping stone and uni is a good place to experiment... at work you have less chance to muck around with a real design brief >_< which is no fun ;_;

The Artist Circle area will be open and very easy to navigate through so you'll have no probs to meet other artist haha..

I'll prolly be running around helping out the convention and help mind other comittee members' tables but i definitely want to get to know all the artist as well
