This is the artist previously known as dreamsdelightsanddel [link] just Steph if we are friends hehehe. So I built a new deviant art site for business purposes. I deleted all my paintings off of my old site and you can now find them on the new one [link] This is a mass message for everyone who has me on their deviant watch or that I have on my deviant watch. Thanks for all the comments and support over the last year. Hopefully you’ll still dig all my stuff on my new site!

Hey, a fellow Australian and a painter...that's rare on DA. I've seen most of your gallery, it is truly fantastic. Your featured deviation is stunningly cool, keep up the great work.

If you could spare any time at all to look at any of my 21 oil painting deviations I have here: [link] it would be hugely appreciated. Any comments would be fantastic. Thanks in advance.

we don't have to do anything like that.

just "visual culture" (history plus contemporary art) and a bit of "research" for individual studio units.

chocolatelemming [2004-03-21 11:58:09 +0000 UTC]

what kind of things to do you have to do?

i hope art history wont be as painful for you, my class are idiots!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

extra-coiffure In reply to chocolatelemming [2004-03-21 14:21:28 +0000 UTC]

right now i'm in the middle of two studio units (we do "specific" units for six-week blocks in first year over two semesters) which are photography <3<3 and textiles.

photography is the best ever and i feel kinda badass in class because i've developed negatives and processed before. and i understand the "test strip" concept. which is something not everyone gets.

textiles is fun. lots of mucking around with ... textile stuff.
though my "home project" right now has me coating everything in sight in melted leg waxing wax, just because i can.

art history drives me crazy because of my lecturer, who sort of talks in circles and thinks out loud.

people in my class are pretty cool, but some of the "mature aged" students ask annoying/dumb questions all too often driving us "young hip" art kids mad.

other than that ...

it's all good.

saw the fashion stuff you've been up to on your page and on the incu-board. interesting, interesting!

chocolatelemming In reply to extra-coiffure [2004-03-21 16:40:51 +0000 UTC]

i have 6 week blocks to. they go pretty quickly.

photography is ok but i prefer digital. dont get too cocky!

i loathe textiles. cant stand weaving, what do you have to do?

yes, lots of retatred questions. thats why i dont go to it anymore ms hip

i've started making the skirt now. phew

shopping list:

how much paper work do you have to do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

extra-coiffure In reply to chocolatelemming [2004-03-21 23:21:19 +0000 UTC]

oh yeah. paper work ... like what? theory? "traditional" paper-paper work, eg. pencil to paper?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

extra-coiffure In reply to chocolatelemming [2004-03-21 23:20:31 +0000 UTC]

pshh. i'm already turning into the biggest wanker about digital-vs-traditional. though, having said that, i still have a bunch of digital stuff lying about the place.

it just feels ... a lot more creative when i'm controlling things manually.

maybe i just need a better digital camera. one with a manual over-ride. weeeee.

there's been no weaving in our textiles class. highlights for me included: burning holes into synthetics using a soldering iron. using a paint stripper (hot air gun) on synthetics and burning them into ... crap. and heat sealing objects into plastic.

it's really really great.

art school is (quite possibly) the best thing to have ever "happened" to me yet.

that's a big call. whoa. go me for making the big claims and actually believing them.

one year seems ... a mile off. cra-zy.
