I dont usually read online writing, but I found myself sucked in by Pilot, which led me to read the beginning of Mortal Gods. I think I'll end up buying the book to find out more C:
Just getting a taste for your work has encouraged me to keep pressing forward with my writing. I love writing fiction/fantasy! I've written quite a few short stories, and have several books in the making. The one I'm working hard to finish now is called Mech. It was inspired by a dream. It will be my first novel when I finish it.
What I'm trying to say is that I've always wanted nothing more than to be a published author, and you've given me a boost of motivation. Thanks, and good luck on your current and future stories!

So - here's my spiel about writing. Don't tie it to how much you enjoy writing or how you view your own work. Keep in mind that publishing is a business and sometimes decisions get made in business for reasons that have nothing to do with how good your work is. Could be the market isn't buying a certain kind of book, could be they don't have the budget to take a risk on a new author, could be the person reading your work is just an utter moron incapable of making intelligent decisions (there are plenty of those in the business world). I kind of hate that we tie publishing to being a 'real' writer because holy cow have I read some terrible books that got published because someone said, "I think this will sell!"
Keep in mind there's always the indie market. Amazon has got some cool tools that really make it easy to get a book to market without playing the game. You lose all the market reach behind a big publisher, but... it's still fun and you own the project at the end of the day.
Anyway. I don't mean to discourage you, I just don't want to see you get discouraged by the publishing industry, because writing is a wonderful thing and I think anyone who practices it is enriched in so many ways. You're turning your dreams into something that feels real. How awesome is that? When you write, you're creating worlds. Most people go home, eat dinner, watch TV. We come home, turn on the computer, and create. It's a fantastic feeling.
And kudos for you on working on a novel. Just be warned - it's addictive. You'll finish one and want to write five more. Personally, I write a lot of my stuff from dreams. It's a great source of inspiration.

But, yeah, very happy with that purchase, despite the horrendous shipping cost (It was like two dollars more than the book), and I'll definitely be getting anything else you release as well.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, the Amazon publishing thingy is quite spiff. They've got a lot of good tools for authors and the entire process has been almost seamless. I really think they're trying to make the indie publishing market viable. I'm glad you liked the book! If you could, leave a review - doesn't have to be elaborate, just helps lend legitimacy to the book, which is pretty important for the self-published market. Thanks!
