You're welcome, it's cool to see someone doing a comic about planetary health.^^  Reminds me I need to start bringing my cloth bags to the grocery store, among other things.

The most amazing thing I get from drawing this comic is how it changed the everyday habits of my readers - they started to be more environmentally aware and tell others to do so. ^^

That must be awesome^^  It seems like a lot of the time people just need to have this stuff put in front of them before they really think about it.

Yeah, it must be so cool to play a game and see the things you came up with or helped create.  I might actually get a chance to work on a small game soon, I'm so excited!

I hope your team is nice to work with! For me that one of the most important things in this kind of work since you will to talk to each other soooooo much to get the project done. I hope you enjoy it and I would love to see what you were working on when the project is published.

well, it got delivered last week, and we're waiting for them to put in electrical and plumbing and all that.  i've been inside and it's really nice; pretty spacious and REALLY good views of the mountains since it's back from the trees.

Any luck on the job search?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2014-03-05 03:29:37 +0000 UTC]

well, had a couple interviews, but not much so far.  Actually recently I've been working with one of my teachers to improve my portfolio, and because he said most of it is fairly mediocre, I've kind've suspended the search until I get some better stuff out.  I plan to keep applying to the odd things that pop up on LinkedIn and the graphic design job boards, but until I get something that really stands out and will give me a chance, I've stopped emailing the studios.
I am working at Ross part time so that's giving me a bit of income for now.
Also, I've been starting to ponder getting a bachelor's in Illustration from UC Denver.  Still doing research and deciding if I want to risk taking out loans on something that is not a lucrative field.  So yeah.  And how is life in your part of the world?

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2014-03-06 02:48:15 +0000 UTC]

Still working on the internship and work. I am planning to finish the internship before summer. I am planning on applying for schools to see if I can even get in. If I do not, I will see if I can get some patient contact experience in addition to the laboratory experience I have been getting.

I hope you have more luck with your search.

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2014-03-08 04:23:59 +0000 UTC]

I would imagine you'd get in to schools just fine.  And by the way, did you have to take out loans to get your bachelor's?  I ask because i've been considering getting a bachelor's in illustration but I'm worried about having to pay back the loans I would need.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2014-03-09 21:13:56 +0000 UTC]

I did get a loan. As far as I see it, getting a loan is almost unavoidable, unless you get a lot of scholarships. I will probably be paying off loans for a while.

Yup, spent some time with family from out of state, went ice skating (didn't fail too bad), slacked off, all those nice things.  how were yours?

oh! and thank you for the gift card, there was star wars wildlife field guide i'd been eyeing...

I went skiing and shopping. I am still doing my internship.

Looking forward to anything?

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2014-01-15 01:13:23 +0000 UTC]

wellllllll............... getting a job at some point.  I'm applying to all the usual stuff, stores, restaurants, etc.  so i can be making money while doing the long-haul search for a career job.

is the internship in addition to the lab job you were doing or are they the same thing?

sounds like you had fun, are they getting a crap-ton of snow on your side of the mountains?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2014-01-16 02:04:45 +0000 UTC]

Good luck. You would probably be able to get a job like that here, but there, well that's harder.

It is separate. The internship is voluntary and through a community college.

We have gotten some snow, mainly in the mountains, but not too much.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2014-01-18 05:16:20 +0000 UTC]

You mean it's easier to get a graphic arts career there, or a regular job?  (I did just score an interview with chipotle, so we'll see how that goes)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2014-01-21 02:10:14 +0000 UTC]

Well I think there are more aspiring artists here, so it might be harder to get a job in that regard, but other jobs are easier to get.

Good luck, it's always good to get interviews.

So, how are you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2013-11-04 06:22:16 +0000 UTC]

I'm here.  I feel super busy, my teacher got me a few free clients, so I've been working on their stuff.  Though the one I'm currently working on wants to pay me later on since I will be finishing a series of posters for them into spring and summer.  And I'm making a website for myself, after that I need to print my portfolios, make a wordpress site, and get visible on linkedin and other sites like that.

And just finishing up at Anderson Farms, which is why I'm supposed to be panicking about finding a job, my teacher wants me to start doing that before I graduate.

let's see, and I just signed up for being on the tech team at the church.  so, lots to do but as is characteristic of me i still find time to avoid all my work.

but it'll be exciting if i can get a job.

how about you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2013-11-05 01:23:17 +0000 UTC]

Well I was able to resume my internship and have been doing 'new' stuff at my work. Other than that, I have not been doing a lot. I did finish typing my book, so I hope I can make some progress with that.

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2013-11-05 07:31:25 +0000 UTC]

yay!  now for the age of endless editing... at least that's how I would be with it.^^ I'm kinda jealous, I can't wait until I can just have a career-type job and pursue my graphic novels on my own time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2013-11-06 01:23:16 +0000 UTC]

Well I am still only able to do it when I have time. I am sure you will get to it eventually.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2013-11-06 07:04:38 +0000 UTC]

yeah.  how's the job going aside from new things?  you and your coworkers getting along ok?  and did you move out, I can't remember if you told me that you did.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadstormFirewalker In reply to farunderheaven [2013-11-15 18:40:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I get along well with my coworkers, but we are not really friends outside of work or anything. Plus, it's kind of hard. There is a high turnover, so we end up having a lot of new faces all of the time. I haven't moved out yet. I will likely move out when I get accepted to a graduate school of some kind.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

farunderheaven In reply to DreadstormFirewalker [2013-11-16 06:38:55 +0000 UTC]

I could see that being rough, work is so much nicer when you know your coworkers, so if you hate them at least you know how to deal with them.  and then if you like them you get to be friends during work.

and as for graduate school, me and my little associate's degree cheer you on.  though i'm thinking about getting a bachelor's in illustration if i'm lucky enough to have the money and time for that.  are you applying to different schools then, or are you waiting for a bit?

and how's the family?  both of your siblings should be in college by now, right?
