i'm a bloody newbie at DA and i haven't had time to watch other artists so far. do you write your own formulas for ultra fractal (you're working with ultra fractal, aren't you?)

Yeah, UF (and some deep zooms using fractal eXtreme) Besides the standard Mandelbrot formula, I use the excellent formulas of my dear friend Stig (Greenseng here on DA). Some of those I've modifyed. i'll have a look at your journals. it would be interesting creating my own fractal formulas, but first i got to improve my knowledge of maths. there are some amazing fractals on the UF-homepage, created with extremely complicated formulas...

..and simple formulas can give rise to infinite complexity
