Thanks! I started digital in May 2011. I was a traditional artist for many years and then got away from it for about 5 years. I bought a laptop that had a free Corel PhotoPaint Shop version on it in May and started playing with it after I bought a tablet. That software was okay for photo editing and I did one drawing (not posted on DA) for a buddy's company logo. Then I played with Gimp for a few weeks until I found Autodesk's Sketchbook Pro and I have been working in that since. I haven't really used anything else yet but I know I ultimately need to get and learn photoshop as it is very robust. So, all my digital work here is solely in Sketchbook Pro for now.I am also dabbling in Corel Draw for vector work since my friend gave me the complete package and a legal license. Thanks for taking some time to check out my work and any feedback is much appreciated!

hey if u were a traditional artist you won't take much to pick up the tools,what kind of traditional experience have had? I have never used sketchbook pro but i think I will have a go with that!!
I guess photoshop is the best base to have and perhaps is the most complete, then it all depends on what kind of art you want to produce and choose what you feel more comfortable with.
Corel painter has a different way of interpreting the painting tools, so it feels like working on a canval with more realistic brushes, kind of less cold then photoshop.
Recently autodesk has been doing a great job with maya and mudbox, so i guess it might be the best if you want to do 3d as well.
I'll be cheking up your gallery now and then and give you some feed back and of course if you do the same that will be much appreciated too!!!

I studied tradtional drawing (and some painting) in school many years ago and started with basic stuff like pencils, charcoal, water color doing still life work and then eventually started doing a lot of B&Wen and ink work and doing more surreal and comic book type stuff.
I love sketchbook pro because of the simplicity and traditional feel when using it. I have done some stuff in GIMP but, not a lot of experience. The first digtial drawign I did was in a free version of Corel Photo Paint Shop Pro that came with my laptop. It was a bit confusing and was a memory hog even for my fairly powerful laptop. I have a license for CorelDraw but I haven't used it much nor have I tried Corel Painter. I agree that photoshop seems to be the industry standard and offers a ton of cool tools but, comes with a hefty price tag. I wasn't real sure if I would stick with digital or not so I didn't want to spens a lot of money. I tried Sketchbook om my iphone first and lioke the interface so I dowloaded the 15 day free trial and I was hooked after 2 hours of playing with it without reading any tutorials. It was only $46 US through Amazon and does a lot for a fairly simple program.
Thanks for checking in on my gallery (please give me a "watch") and any feedback would be much appreciated. I am not sure what I want to do with my work right now as I am trying to get back in the swing of drawing/painting and goign to go back and study some basic stuff. I really like the feel of keeping things kind of loose and painterly and not focus so much on doing a lot of line art like the comic book stuff. And yes, Autodesk has some really cool software for all kinds of stuff and I have been communicating with some of their employees (primarily from the Sketchbook products) and they seem like a great group of people and a great company.
What software do you use to create your screen capture stuff? I saw the one on the tentacled alien and that is so cool! Do you know if the screen capture can be pointed to just one screen as I tend to use a dual monitor set up (reference pics on one screen and draw/paint on the other.
