In the third series, at the smith's room, (maybe) the magial mirror said like this."Once upon a time, the Shade was one of the wise old fay."
I want to know what made him become bad fay.
(But I think this story goes to bring down him without touching his background.)

They referred him as the "Once-bright Elder Fay" and even "the fallen Pillar of Winter".
That's enough to proof that the Shade was once a good creature!
