well i don't have photo shop i have gimp... yeah i know janky. and i don't have a "working' intuos pad :/ i still havn't managed to get it working correctly

Gimp and Photoshop work differently but you can find tutorials on dA.
Did you download the Intuos software that it came with?

You right click on the icon and click "save image as" and save and name it what ever you want. Go to your profile and mouse over your icon and a pencil will come up. Click on the pencil and upload your avatar and when you're done go to the bottom and click "ok". :]
