What doesn't make sense to me is people who comment here just to make trouble. We (as a group) aren't hurting anyone, and are allowed to believe whatever we want to, whether or not you agree.

With a comment like yours, there's no point in making a defense -- all I can really do is let it roll off our backs.

We're just a grouping of followers of Christ who want to help each other grow. We're essentially like any other club, though we'd like to be more geared toward socialization, while still being retaining a love for art.

i'm sorry you feel that way. firstly, my congratulations on raising your son with a solid religion and morals. i believe Islam has a lot of good points.
however, i don't feel we are shoving anything in anyone's face. we don't go to anyone's pages and insist upon anything (don't take that the wrong way - you are definitely welcome here!)
i'm sure you could even find a Sunni group here on dA.

There's really no quick proof for this. It's like trying to prove you love someone. You can't prove it with a scientific experiment, and the same can't be done with God. Bu Logic and reason are two very good ways to approach it.

Something to consider is the intricacy of our world. Something so precise wouldn't just happen. You wouldn't believe that your computer put itself together would you? It doesn't make any more sense to believe the universe did either.

Here's a great example of how complex our solar system is. (I got this from a book called "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About God by Eric Metaxas).

"The sun is about 93 million miles from the Earth. And the moon is about 240,000 miles from the Earth, or just less than a quarter of a million miles. The distance from us to the sun is almost exactly 400 times the distance from us to the moon. The diameter of the sun is almost 400 times the diameter of the moon. So when you look at the sun and moon from Earth they look exactly the same. Nor sort of the same, but exactly the same size. If you were designing a sun and moon in the sky, wouldn't it be nice to get them to look exactly the same size, just for the symmetry and aesthetics of it? Other planets and their moons don't begin to come anywhere close to this. Our moon is about 1500 miles across, but the moons of Mars are 9 and 17 miles across. They're a couple of glorified boulders compared to our moon. The moon and the Earth have to fit precisely over each other for total eclipses to occur. It doesn't prove anything, but it's pretty astonishing."

Another good argument is experience. If you felt the breeze blow your hair you would know it was real. You experienced it. We as humans base our views for almost everything on others' observations and weigh their "answers" on how credible they are. The same is true about God. I'm not saying we believe He exists only because others do, but say a good friend says she/he experienced a miracle--we'd believe them if we trusted them wouldn't we?

It doesn't prove anything, but I hope it has got you thinking. It's always good to explore things and to ask questions.

i've written and deleted a few replies here. i'll see how i go.

we don't know God exists like we know two plus two is four, or that yellow and blue is green. we know God is real like we know that our family loves us, or that giving is truly greater than getting. God is not found only in analytical facts and proofs, but in the heart of... that sounds so mushy.

on the other hand, i'll quote (as i remember it) one of the best speakers i've heard: Reggie Dabbs. "people ask me what i would do if God wasn't real, if they proved He didn't exist? And i tell them, if God didn't exist, i would still be the happiest fat black man on the face of this planet. i wouldn't change a thing." If all else fails, (and He doesn't fail) believing gives us comfort, and hope, and a way to live.
