Thought maybe you could help wiht a little problem im having. Now ive only been doing the basics with my camera, using the preset settings on it, but id like to do some more manual settings. So i thought id try and change the aperture and shutter speed. I want a quicker shutter speed, so a higher number, so that i can capture things that are moving without them blurring. And of course with that you have to change the aperture too, to allow more light in. So i did that but the pictures are appearing very dark, even though im using maximum apature. to make the pictures light again i have to lower the shutter speed right down to the setting it was on orginally. I can always use ISO light sensitivity with a high shutter speed, but this leaves avery grainy effect on the picture, its very noticeable. Any ideas on how i can fix this and achieve a nice high shutter speed to capture fast moving things without blur?

You need to DECREASE the aperure to allow more light in. f2.8 will allow more light in than f7.2 for example. With lower apertures though, you get less depth of field so you need to find a balance for your shot. You need to see how much of it needs to be in focus, find an aperture that will do that and a shutter speed to stop blurring. Doing that should mean that you only ever need ISO 100-200 and so there shouldn't be any degredation in image quiality.
