Ah cool. You've just put all sort of sand, wood filter, plaster ideas into my head! Thanks. Am making skimmed plaster bowls, based on a 'desert' idea... think I'll try out some new materials. But I do have a question? Tell me if it's trade secrets but, how did you wrap the wire? Was it all by hand.

No trade secrets. Yes it's all by hand. I have an old piece of wood with a couple of nails that I use to wrap a coil of wire. I take the coil off the nails and secure the coil with the tag end of my wire. Then I cut the coil so that I end up with a bundle of wire. If you make a 3" coil of wire you'll end up with a 6" bundle when you cut it. So by varying the size of your coils (the distance between the nails) you make trees of different sizes. I usually make about 35-35 turns of wire around the nails for my coil. Then you get to wrappin'!

Ah lolz, I'm not sure I got all that, not sure what the difference between bundle and coil. Although I'll admit I did just envision you wrapping it round and round something, securing, and taking off at the end. I understand now, much more complicated!
