# About me

I'm a graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic art. I currently work as an Art Director/Designer for a company that imprints Ceramics and Glassware for many of the major College Bookstores and Souvenir shops throughout the country. My job actually allows me the ability to say that thousands of people buy my designs. The funny part is that they drink out of them.

no problem. was wondering if i could pick your brain a little about inking. Do you have any prictice routines you go through such as throwing certain types of lines?

No problem. Ask away. Sorry for the late reply.

I like to practice all kiinds of lines when warming up, or really when ever I can. I'm always looking for new ways to 'hatch' or 'render' a certain object.

I like to practice my cross-hatching by doing a series of evenly spaced, evenly weighted, lines. Creating evenly shaded grey tones is much tougher than it sounds!
After I feel I'm warmed up, I do they same thing, but practice with gradations. Same idea, just varying up the line weights. Again, finding new, interesting ways to bleed the grey tones.
I'll then move onto diamond shaped lines, and different bleeds; Trying to get down that perfect 'thick-to-thin' stroke.
Lastly, chisel shapes are always fun to practice. These are the broader strokes with the squarer look to them. Kind of like if you were to use the side of a white-board marker. Good reference for these guys would be to look at the master, Scott Williams. Study his work, and you will know everything you need to know. Haha.

Hopefully my rant helped. If you have more questions or want me to clarify at all, feel free to ask.

Pretty good. How about you?
Now that the kid is getting a little older, I'm hoping to have more time for art. I might need some of that ol'Aaron Houston motivation though! Ha Ha!
