JOHN: *john follows dave's eyes, looking around the hill*

DAVE: no... no, nothing...
JOHN: are you sure? you look really nervous. *takes dave's hands*
DAVE: no im not nervous... well, maybe, actually ...
JOHN: hm?
DAVE: but its nothing, really *suddenly dave hears the same sound he heard the first time around, immediately moving to try and get john out of the way but instead only succeeds in getting them both hit*

JOHN: *they both fall to the ground, the ring box falling out of dave's pocket*
JOHN: d-dave, what...?
DAVE: *ignores the pain and reaches out to open the box* JOHN: *he reaches out to cover dave's hand*
JOHN: no, dave, you're hurt... *he coughs, flecks of crimson dotting the snow on the ground*
JOHN: let's... let's get you to the hospital first...
DAVE: *offers john a weak smile and opens the box anyway* i dont think *coughs* thats going to help...
JOHN: no, please, don't do this...
DAVE: john... i... *cough* i love you so much...
JOHN: *he reaches out and takes the ring from dave's hands and slips it onto his finger*
JOHN: don't... don't leave me, *coughs* dave...
DAVE: *gently places hands on johns* i wont... i wont ever leave you ...
JOHN: *ignoring the blood, john pulls dave in for a final kiss, tears flowing down his cheeks*
JOHN: i'll... i'll always love you...
DAVE: *as their lips meet dave feels himself fading away, and when the kiss breaks he has only enouh strength to respond* b-beyond the end of time... i will love you...
JOHN: *john's eyesight fades, but he holds onto dave as the last of his strength depletes*
JOHN: i'll... love...
JOHN: *the darkness overcomes him as john releases his last breath, his eyes fluttering closed*
DAVE: *dave closes his eyes as the world fades to black around him and then thats it, hes gone, and only in that one last moment does all of his guilt come flooding in as a voice whispers in his head "i couldnt save him" and then, it is the end, and dave strider lies dead on the snow in the embrace of the one he loved*
JOHN: *parents quickly usher their children away from the scene and soon, the authorities arrive to find the couple intertwined, a ring shining john's finger, and the box, still in dave's grasp. although their lives have long since faded, their love lingers in the air, never leaving the place where true love makes its home*
